CV – Nigel Sunley

Nigel Sunley has a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Leeds and an

MSc in Food Science from the University of Natal. He spent 32 years in the food

industry and then started his own consulting business, Sunley Consulting, in 2007,

based in Johannesburg but conducting projects both locally and internationally

Nigel is a past president of SAAFoST and chaired the organising committee for the

15th

IUFoST Congress held in Cape Town in August 2010. He was a member of the

global Governing Council of IUFoST from 2010-2014. He was elected as a member

of the International Academy of Food Science & Technology, a by-invitation

grouping of approximately 200 of the world’s leading food science & technology

professionals, in 2014 and also currently chairs the joint liaison committee for food

science and nutrition in South Africa on behalf of ICSU (International Council of

Scientific Unions).
