NASA Einstein Postdoctoral Fellow, Stanford University September 2012 – June 2015

Pursuing independent research on feedback processes in massive galaxies and the redshift evolution of clusters of galaxies. I use a variety of telescopes including Chandra, XMM-Newton, VLA, and GMRT, as well as the ZEUS-MP grid based Magneto-Hydrodynamic code.

Ph. D. graduate student, University of Cambridge October 2009 – July 2012

Pursued work on AGN feedback in clusters of galaxies using Chandra, GMRT and VLA observations. I determined the evolution of AGN-driven outflows in clusters of galaxies and provided evidence that the black holes lying at the centres are significantly more massive than previously thought. M. Sc. graduate student, Université de Montréal June 2007 – August 2009

Supervised by Prof. Claude Carignan, I reduced and analyzed Fabry-Perot data of NGC 253, NGC 247 and NGC 300, as well as derived rotation curves and mass models. This project resulted in two scientific publications. Summer research student, Université de Montréal Summer 2006

Supervised by Prof. Claude Carignan, I accomplished the kinematical analysis of NGC 7793, NGC 300 and NGC 247 using Fabry-Perot observations from the 3.6-m NTT telescope, La Silla observatory, Chile. Summer research student, Université de Montréal Summer 2005

Supervised by Prof. Pierre Bergeron and Prof. François Wesemael, I derived the mass function of white dwarfs using photometric and spectroscopic data. AWARDS and RESEARCH GRANTS 2014-2019 Canada Research Chair (Tier 2, $500,000), awarded to outstanding emerging world-

Supervising experience: 1. Dr. Mar Mezcua (postdoctoral scholar, Univerisité de Montréal, 2015 - ). Supervising Dr. Mar Mezcua, an

expert on supermassif black holes and intermediate mass black holes. Currently, Mar is working on the fundamental plane of black holes, as well as new VLA observations on black holes.

2. Marie-Lou Gendron-Marsolais (Ph. D. graduate student, Univerisité de Montréal, 2014 - ). I am Marie-Lou’s Ph. D. advisor. She is working on new, ultra-deep VLA observations of the Perseus Cluster. She has become an expert in data reduction with CASA, and has pursued a 6-months internship (by invitation) at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics with Dr. Ralph Kraft. During this internship, she worked on new Chandra data of a nearby galaxy. Marie-Lou is also the recipient of the Hubert-Reeves 2014 scholarship, awarded every year to one outstanding student at the Université de Montréal.

3. Myriam Latulippe (M. Sc. graduate student, Université de Montréal, 2015 - ). I am Myriam’s M. Sc. A advisor. Myriam is working on new Chandra data of a massive cluster of galaxies. This will result in a scientific publication, for which she will be first author. She is the recipient of the 2015 Hubert Reeves

Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo

4

scholarship. I also supervised Myriam during her undergraduate thesis project. This resulted in a document of 100 pages, which will serve as the foundation for a catalogue of massive galaxies with AGN outflows.

4. David Fecteau-Beaucage (NSERC summer research scholar, 2016). David is working on new, VLA observations of the galaxy cluster Abell 2146 (16 hours, multi-configuration). The goal is to produce a short letter on his results by the end of the summer that will be submitted to ApJ.

5. Annabelle Richard-Laferrière (undergraduate thesis, 2016). Annabelle is a second year undergraduate student, but is exceptionally pursuing her undergraduate thesis this year under my supervision. Her goal is to determine the relationship between mini-halos and AGN feedback in clusters of galaxies. She is also the recipient of the Université de Montréal 2014 Marie-Curie scholarship.

6. Dominik Dumont (undergraduate thesis, 2015). Dominik pursued an undergraduate thesis under my supervision. During this project, he reduced in less than 4 months (8 hours/week) new VLA data on a massive galaxy cluster. This dataset will be included in a scientific publication.

7. Alexis Riopel (undergraduate student, 2014). Alexis produced a catalogue of over 80 objects with AGN outflows. This catalogue will serve as the basis of a scientific publication. Alexis is currently an NSERC graduate scholar at McGill University.
