Project: IWRM Master Plan for Uruguay Project Features: Uruguay National plan for integrated water resources management: ecosystem based climate change adaptation, hydraulic modeling and decision support system, hydrology, environment flow, institutional strengthening, water policy, long-term planning and feasibility study. Activities: Follow-up and provided technical assistance in the Development of an IWRM Master Plan for Uruguay, whereas the main performed activities were as follows: (1) Set up a National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change for the Water Resources subsector, including: Definition of the main policy priorities of the country's water resources and the necessary programs for adaptation to climate change; Planning applications from water defined by watershed management in the conceptual framework of integration; Implementation Plan in the pilot Strategic Santa Lucia River Basin, considering among other things: hydraulic modeling and sediment balance assessment; (2) Strengthening of Monitoring of a Geographical Information System, determining the necessary information to build and / or continue to generate for integrated management of water bodies. With this component, an action plan defined to strengthen the GIS; and (3) Upgrade the Institutional Strengthening management needs to a system that prioritizes sustainability of water resources but which in turn responds to the users in a timely manner according to the times conditioned by the use to which it will give to the resource. This work was focus on the regionalization of the management and consolidation of the permanent structure of the Uruguay’s National Water Directorate, and strategy for adaptation to climate variability and change. and siltation of primary and secondary canals, intakes structures, regulation structures, dams and water ponds; (2)

Hydrological study of El Caine watershed, comprising climate factors assessment, natural areas protection, water

basin morphometric assessment and available flow for irrigation (monthly routing hydrograph at the mainstream

outlet). (3) Set up an Irrigation Master Plan for a Municipalities Association.
