Title: Liveness based adaptive biometric system.
Brief Project Description:
Security of breaches due to miss-identifying an individual is one of the greatest threats for
today’s world. Use of biometrics can be a potential solution for this scenario. As a reason of
which biometrics have enjoyed a high encouragement by the researchers in industry, government
and academics. Till date, various biometric systems have been proposed in the literature.
Traditional biometric systems are not equipped to distinguish between a fake and real data
scanned in front of the sensors. As a result they are adhere to forgery attacks by intruders who
can take the privilege of a genuine user. With the rising demand of involuntary biometric systems
in border security, flight checking, and other restricted zone, incorporation of automatic detection
of forgery attack is becoming very obvious. Adaptability of the system with respect to the change
in the trait is another important aspect that these biometric system should be enrich with.
Although both the forgery detection method (termed as liveness detection in the literature of
biometrics) and adaptability of the trait is necessary for a trusted involuntary biometric system,
but initial study in the literature exhibit it as a trade-off. Therefore to fulfil the gap, this research
is conceived which aims to propose a new framework for software-based liveness detection,
which is also associated adaptability of the trait. To fulfil the above highlighted aim in the
proposed framework, intra-class level (i.e. user level) liveness detection is introduced employing
image quality-based features. Furthermore, to incorporate the adaptability of the trait online
learning based classifiers are used. Initial investigation and experimental result solicits the used
of the proposed framework for trusted involuntary biometric systems.

Title: Iris Recognition in Eigen space
Project Description:
8
In this work two new biometric method for personal identification is been presented on iris
identification of individuals in lower dimensionality and reduced template size than the other
previous approaches. Here the iris images are expressed in lower dimension, re-tending its
features by using convergence matrix and Eigen space. The project basically contains two
algorithms on iris detection on reduced template size, high accuracy and low time complexity.
The method was also successfully applied on face biometrics.
Bachelor Dissertation: SMIT, WBUT, Kolkata under the guidance of Prof. Sujit Ghosh
Title: A Secured Application for Automatic Parking Zone
Project Description:
Developed a secured automatic car parking zone application based on the identification of the car
number plate. The owner need to enroll his car in the mobile application before he/she arrives to
the parking zone. Once the car arrives the number is recognized by the system in the parking
zone and according to model it is charge while it leaves the zone.
