I stumbled back into the Clinic,the cord (only with God's help I couldn t see or hear), put aand diaper on the baby. I told the lady to hold on. I went Intoroom and told Larry, weare a ll dying and there is nothing we canLarry crawled on h is hands and knees to Filemon s house and knockedpassed out in a heap. Filemon was real ly scared, but somehow hMargaro got a l l 8 of us in the t ruck and took us to Matehuala. Whahappened? the bot t le gas stove burner had been l e f t on and for8-10 hours we had been breathing those fumes. Only God saved our lThe doctor said i t was a miracle. In a few days they returned homeGarnet was s t i l l so sick she had to return to the hospital . Tests ssevere anemia and albumin. She has to take vitamin shots and kmedicine. With the expense of a l l 8 being in the hospital and Garreturn, they ran very, very low on food and money.Garnet also wrote: The mostbeautiful thing happened. When SaGrande (a near village) Christians found out about us being gassed,had a l l night prayer services. They prayed God s will would be doni f i t was His will, would He heal our bodies. They prayed thatgot well they would a l l come here to Sandia Chico as one body of Chians and have a thanksgiving service. t was one of the most beauthings we ve seen since we ve been hefel Forty - five ChristiansSandia Grande came with a complete well planned program to givthanks for sparing our lives. They came in the cold and mud Thecongregational singing, special numbers, a chain of prayer, an excesermon and an invitat ion hymn. To make an already beautiful servicemore perfect, a teen-aged boy responded to the Gospel message and incold air and waters of the pool here in Sandia Chico, was immersedthe remission of his sins by none other than our dearly beloved Chet rained for several days (inside, too, since the roof is so bad)i t got quite cold, 10 and these things did not help their health.Dykes l i t t l e boy fe l l and cut a huge gash in his head and hadtaken to Matehula for treatment by a doctor.Larry writes: Thiswinter has brought much illness with i t bare thankful that none of the immediate family has been very sick.o ther b re th ren here a t Sandia Chico have not been as fortunate.Dykes, and his family, were very, very sick for three weeks with ScFever. wish to thank each and every one of you who sent medibecause the medicine which you sent is what kept us and many of theple here alive. There were so many people sick in Mexico that evencities ran out of medical supplies. were able to purchase mesupplies until the 10th of January - then the situation got so badGarnet had to go to the States to get medicine.     Michigan speaking for 2 weeks in January, and was able to obtain qa bit of medicine to bring back with me. When we arrived back, wesaddened to find that Margaro s 4week old baby had died because ofof medication. Margaro, you will remember, is one of the men who wand lives here at Sandia Chico. We also wish to thank each and eone of you who prayed for us in this time of need.     Because the people who come f o r medicine come from so f a r theyunable to r e t u r n the same day, and they of n e c e s s i t y must s t a y herthe ranch. Margaro, one of the Chris t ian men, who l ives here a t SaChico with h is family, i s qui te f r a i l and s i c k l y but when these pecome and have no place to t u r n Margaro lovingly opens h is housethem. Not long ago, some people came with s c a r l e t fever and tuc u l o s i s and Margaro, being the type of Chris t ian tha t we a l l shouldaccepted them i n t o h is house u n t i l other arrangements could be made.i s because of people l i k e Margaro who are more concerned with ott h a n t h e m s e l v e s t h a t t h i s w o r k h a s b e e n s o s u c c e s s f u l . B u t b e c a u s ei s very , very dangerous to Margaro and h is family, we want to helpb u i l d f a c i l i t i e s to help accommodate these people. As wen e a r i n g home, began t o r a i n and by t h e t ime we r e a c h e d t h e t u r n -which was about 9 : 3 0 a t n i g h t o n t o t h e d i r t r o a d t h e r e was muchp r e s e n t . We got about t h r e e m i l e s b e f o r e we got s t u c k but by c a r e fs t u dy in g t h e s i t u a t i o n and by h a r d work and by t h e h e l p o f God, wea b le to manipulate the f i r s t r e a l bad s p o t . got 6 miles f u r t h e rt h e road , and Lee got the t r u c k and the t r a i l e r s t u c k . B e f o r e we were f i n a l l y at o f r e e t h e t r u c k we t o o k many b a d s p i l l s an d w e r e mud f r om h e a dt o e b u t r e j o i c e d a s t h e t r u ck p ul l e d o u t o f t h a t mud h o l e .     We threw a load of g r a v e l on th e S t a t e t r u c k and went back toL e e s t r u c k and t h e t r a i l e r . The S t a t e t r u c k i s n o t a b l e to go tob o rd er to p u l l th e t r a i l e r as it i s a Mexican v e h i c l e and th e t r ai s an American v e h i c l e . We g o t back to L ee s tru c k ag ain about 3an d a f t e r f r e e i n g it headed home a g a i n . A f t e r pushing th e t r u c kth e t r a i l e r we g o t to w i t h i n a m i l e o f o u r h o u s e and g o t s t u c k a gAs we t r i e d to g e t the S t a t e truck i n p o s i t i o n to p u l l out th e ot r u c k and t r a i l e r . i t became lodged down in th e mud to i t s a x l e s . Soworked u n t i l d a y l i g h t an d were f i n a l l y able to f r e e L ee s tru c k andt r a i l e r b u t l e f t th e S t a t e t r u c k . We g o t s t u c k 2 o r 3 times morefore we f i n al l y got home and we f i n a l l y l e f t L ee s truck and the t r aa b o u t 25 0 y a r d s from th e house i n th e mud.

    L a t e r t h a t d ay we f r e e d t h o s e tw o t r u c k s and f i n a l l y made it hoI t d o e s n t r a i n h e r e o f t e n b u t when it d o e s th e mud i s a f a c t o r .when t h e r e s not mud t h e r e i s about 4 inches of dust in th e rowhich i s very hard on a vehi cl e. We a re now planto b u i l d a 35-bed h o s p i t a l and do NEED d o c t o r s nurses r e g i s t e r e dp r a c t i c a l n urse s a id es plus lab technicians an d other technics k i l l e d persons to be connected with the h o s p i t a l .     R e c e n t l y a 17 y e a r o l d g i r l came t o have a baby. A f t e r ll n i g h thard l a b o r we t o o k h e r t o Matehua la f o r a C a e s a r i a n S e c t i o n . She ahad a l a r g e tumor prevent ing normal b i r t h of t h e baby. This tumor whave t o b e removed, p r o b a b l y by Dr. G r i f f i t h when he a r r i v e s .
