How to Use the Program

First...

Please go through the following 9-step checklist and complete each individual item. This is going to set you up for success and ensure that you are starting this plan in the easiest way possible.

1. Print out your meal plans for the week or have them readily available on your computer, phone, or tablet.

3. Circle or make notes on the shopping list and decide what items you will need to buy. You may already have many items in your refrigerator or pantry, so cross those off if you already have them.

4. Print out your Exercise Calendar and plan your workouts for the week. I keep a Google calendar with all my work appointments and personal appointments. I enter in my workouts for the week directly into this calendar so I know exactly when I am exercising during the week.

How to Use the Program

6. Print out the Exercise Guide and place it in your home where you plan to exercise. If you have all the items you need already set up and handy, it will make following your exercise program much easier. For example, if you are going to use your bedroom to exercise in the morning, make sure you have your ball and your workout guide stored nearby (in your closet or in a corner) so you can access them easily.

7. Decide how you will use the Success Journal. You have 2 choices: You can either print out your Success Journal for the week or you can use the Success Journal on the BeyondDiet.com. I am a pen-and-paper kind of gal, but I know most people would rather have everything available to them on the computer. Choose the method that works best for you and is easiest for you to use daily.

8. Download the motivational audios onto your iPod®, iPad®, or MP3 device, or listen to them right on your computer. These inspiring recordings are critical to your success and should not be skipped. 1. Stable insulin and blood sugar levels throughout the day will result in easy fat loss. This may sound complicated, but I assure you it’s not. The secret to permanently shedding fat and keeping it off is to keep your insulin and blood sugar levels stable throughout the day, without any huge spikes (rises) or lows (falls). You will be able to accomplish balanced blood sugar levels simply by following the Meal Plans exactly as I have written them in this program (I told you I did all the work for you!).

Blood sugar and insulin regulation is NOT something only diabetics need to be aware of. More and more medical doctors are now preaching the correlation between high and out-of-control insulin levels with obesity, heart disease, and type2diabetes.TheaddedbenefitoftheBDEdgeprogramisyouwillbeshedding tons of fat while simultaneously decreasing your risk of any of these diseases.

2. Eat a serving of high quality, natural protein with each meal will accelerate your fat loss efforts. One very important principle you will notice is that each meal I have given you in this program includes a healthy serving of protein EVERY time (every breakfast, snack, lunch, and dinner). Protein is one of the best tools you can use to maintain stable blood sugar levels and keep insulin levels from rising too high.

When you ingest protein, your body releases a hormone called glucagon. Glucagon helps to balance insulin and keeps it from rising too high or falling too low. Protein also helps prevent hunger and helps you feel more satiated for longerperiodsoftime.Givingyourbodyaqualitysourceofproteinateachmealwill keep the hunger away all day long and accelerate fat burning inside your body.

3. Eat a healthy amount of quality fat every day to burn off unwanted fat.What you will also notice in these meal plans is that I include a lot of healthy, high qualityfatintoeachday.Fatisagoodthing…actually,itisagreatthing,butonlytherightkindoffat.Therightkindofqualityfatwillhelpyourbodyburnthebadfat off your body.

Sothegoodnewshereisthatnotallfatsarecreatedequal,andbyincorporatingthe right kind of fat into your daily menu, you will be greatly assisting your body in the fat burning process. Fats like avocados, extra virgin olive oil, raw nuts, coconutoil,andOmega-3fats(fromfishorsupplements)areallthetypesoffatyou want to include each day to help your body in the fat loss process.

4. Carbohydrates are not BAD and can be included in a fat loss meal plan.Many fad diets have given people the false belief that all carbohydrates are bad. This could not be farther from the truth. 5. “CLEAN” eating is your secret to fat loss success.I have seen the term “clean eating” used a lot these days (and I am a big fan of it), but many people don’t know exactly what it means. The term “clean eating” isusedwhenaplanisfreeofprocessedfoods,chemicaladditives,andartificialingredients. This is a very important principle and one that will not only greatly assist your weight loss efforts, but will contribute to your good health at the same

What I have seen in the past is many trendy diets recommend their packaged foodsanddietsnacks,andencouragetheuseofartificialsweeteners.YouwillfindnoneofthathereinBDEdgeorintheBeyondDiet.comprogram.Theseartificialandprocessedingredientsareperceivedasforeignandtoxicingredientsin your body, disrupting the fat loss process and negatively affecting your digestion. The last thing you want to do when trying so hard to lose weight is ingest foods that will stop or greatly slow down your fat loss efforts. Wholesome, natural foods is your best choice for accelerated fat loss…and it can be delicious (as you will see in the recipes included in this program).

6. Eat good food and eat it often.The meal plans in BD Edge have been designed to give you healthy portions of goodfooddividedintofrequentmealsthroughouttheday.Ideally,Iwouldlovetosee you eating every 3 hours, following a schedule similar to this one:

Dr. William Davis, author of the book Wheat Belly, clearlydescribeshowwheatissignificantlydifferentinitscomposition than the wheat our ancestors used to eat. The wheat we have available to us today is the result of extensivegeneticmodificationthatourhumandigestivesystem has not been able to keep up with. The end result ofeatingthismodifiedwheatisacountlessnumberofpeople suffering from digestive discomfort, low energy, skin rashes, and the ever-rising incidence of type 2 diabetes all over the world.

8. Ease up on dairy.You may have heard in the past “Milk does a body good,” but I don’t agree. Many people are extremely intolerant to dairy, and they do not have the ability to properly digest it, resulting in uncomfortable gas, bloating, and constipation. Besides discomfort (and potential embarrassment), intolerance to dairy can also disrupt your body’s natural ability to burn off unwanted fat. That is why I am cautious with how much dairy I recommend to my clients and readers (and how much dairy I eat).

Ihaveseenfirst-handhowmuchmoresuccessfulmyclientsareintheirweightloss efforts when they eat a limited amount of dairy in their meal plans. The dairy foods I have chosen for these meals plans are those that are higher in protein…specificallyGreekyogurtandcottagecheese.Notonlyaretheyhighinprotein,they are also low in sugar…a super combination for fat loss. I am not suggesting that you will have to give up dairy for life, but for the 21 days (or 28 days if you include the bonus days) that you are following the BD Edge Meal Plans, it will be extremely effective to limit your dairy options to only the ones suggested in your Meal Plans.

9. Say NO, NO to soy.Soy is another one of those foods that is perceived as a health food when, inreality,itcausesmoreharmthangood.SpecificallyI’mtalkingaboutunfermented soy products. Whereas fermented soy products have been taken through a process that enhances their ability to be digested by the human body, unfermented soy is NOT in a form that our digestive systems can digest.

Unfortunately, most of the soy products people are eating are the unfermented kind…soy milk, tofu, snack bars, and fake meat products are all unfermented, unhealthy versions of soy. Fermented soy foods such as miso, tempeh and natto canbebeneficialwheneateninsmallquantities,asinthetypicalAsiandiet.Problems occur when even these fermented soy products are consumed in high quantitieseveryday.Consumingtoomuchsoycanresultinserioussideeffectssuch as digestive distress, weak immune system, reproductive problems, higher riskofcancerandheartdisease,andweightgain.YouwillfindNOsoyinthemeal plans that follow.

10. Use Coconut Oil as your fat burning secret weapon. I mentioned in principle #3 that eating the rind kind of healthy fat will boost your body’s ability to burn off unwanted fat. There is one kind of fat you can use as your fat burning secret weaponandthat’sunrefinedcoconut oil.

Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid and very high in medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs). The body digests MCFAs more easily and uses them differently than other fats. MCFAs are sent directly to the liver, where they are converted into energy and used to make energy rather than being stored as fat. Because they are used to make energy, they also have a stimulatory effect of the metabolism, causing an increase in your metabolic rate and your ability to burn calories all day. Coconut oil also keeps its healthy properties even under high heat whereas many other oils (like olive oil and nuts) lose their healthy properties when exposed to heat (as in cooking and/or roasting).

The overweight daughter and granddaughter of type 2 diabetics, Isabel was told she was doomed to suffer from the same health problems as the generations who preceded her. Not willing to sit around waiting for this grim prediction to become a reality, she pored over every nutrition and

diet book available in search of the answers to her family’s weight and health problems. This led her to personally seek out doctors and health professionals that were using nutrition to get great results (as far as health and weight loss) with their patients and clients.

Isabel is able to educate clients and readers all over the world through her books, hundreds of online articles, seminars, and the media, focusing on the essential principles of fat-loss nutrition and achieving a healthy, toned, and vibrant body.

Isabel graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in exercise physiology (a pre-med curriculum). She is also a Holistic Nutrition Lifestyle Coach, certified by the Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology (C.H.E.K.) Institute in San Diego,California. She counsels many special populations, including people with diabetes and heart disease, cancer survivors, and overweight individuals, as well as healthy individuals who wish to maintain their health and prevent disease.

She has since reached and maintained an ideal weight, is vibrantly healthy, and shows no indication that conditions like diabetes will affect her as they have so many in her family. She truly enjoys a high level of well-being that not only surprises most people, but motivates them to achieve what Isabel has.
