Provides two separate electricalcontact sets which wire verticallyand are color coded; black desig-nates NC and silver designates NO.Please note that the vertical wiringis contrary to the horizontal wiringof the L-56 auxiliary contacts.Designed to fit within dimensions ofstarter; no additional panel space isrequired.Provides circuit isolation (no polar-ity restrictions) and single breakbifurcated contacts.

Auxiliary Electrical Contacts

Size 4 — Three Type J auxiliary contacts maybe mounted onthe top of Size 4 contactors to provide six auxiliary, isolated600V, 10A contacts for use in control circuits.

Size 1 Starter

Product Description —Sizes 00-4GeneralMagnetic starters are used for full-voltage, across-the-line starting andstopping of squirrel cage motors. Theycan be operated locally or remotely bymanual or automatic pilot devices.

NEMA Sizes 00-4;

Three-Phase, 1-1/2 -100 hp

These starters use Class A201 contac-tors as described on Page 33-115.Contactor features are enhancedthrough the ability to provide positivemotor protection in the form of severaltypes of overload relays. See Pages33-141-33-149

Type B Overload Relay, Manual Reset Only

Supplied as standard on Class A200and A900 starters (two-speed). The bi-metallic overload relay offers ambientcompensation and trip-to-test feature(relay contact status check) as stan-dard. In addition, an isolated normally-open contact is available in kit form forcustomer mounting. Type B overloadrelays are manual reset only.

Type A Overload Relay, Manualor Automatic Reset

This is an optional overload relay,offering the capability of field conver-sion to automatic reset. It is availableas an ambient compensated or non-compensated type.

Non-reversing Starters

Non-reversing starters are supplied asopen devices. All starters are suppliedwith a normally-open holding circuitinterlock.

Class A200 starters are available as ULlisted or recognized components, aswell as with CSA certification.

Reversing Starters

For reversing applications (ClassA210), a starter and a contactor electri-cally and mechanically interlocked aresupplied on a common baseplate.Reversing starters are used to start,stop and reverse AC squirrel cagemotors and for primary control ofreversing wound-rotor motors.

For plugging or inching, when opera-tions exceed five times per minute,decreased horsepower ratings inaccordance with NEMA Standard ICS2-321 are recommended.

Two-Speed Starters, A900sFor across-the-line starting of two-speed constant hp, constant torqueand variable torque squirrel cagemotors, two-speed starters (ClassA900) are available. These startersconsist of two starters, one for eachmotor speed, mechanically and electri-cally interlocked and wired for manualspeed selection by means of pushbut-tons. Auxiliary relays may be added toprovide automatic acceleration ordeceleration.

Starters for two-speed, two indepen-dent winding motors consist of two-,three- or four-pole starters electricallyand mechanically interlocked. Startersfor two-speed, single reconnectablewinding motors consist of one three-pole and one five-pole starter mechan-ically and electrically interlocked.

Size 5 Starter

Product Description —Sizes 5-9

NEMA Sizes 5-9;Three-Phase 75 to 1600 hpNon-reversing (Class A200), andreversing (Classes A210, A250) fullvoltage starters are used for across-the-line starting of squirrel cage induc-tion motors. They are used withmotors rated above 50 hp at 230V, andabove 100 hp at 460 through 600V.

Sizes 5 and 6 starters use Class A201contactors as described on Page 33-116. In addition to standard motorstarters, special application devicesare available: Sizes 5 and 6 starterswith integrally rectified AC to DC coilsfor applications where low voltageproblems are prevalent are available.

Class A200 starters are UL listedand recognized and also carry CSAcertification.

Front Removable Parts — All operat-ing parts can be removed quickly andeasily from the front. Straight-throughwiring and conveniently located con-nection points for external wires andcables minimize installation time.

Type B Block Type Thermal OverloadRelay — Dependable overload protec-tion is assured by these snap-action,manual reset relays. Automatic resetType A relays are available as anoption.

Types of StartersClass A200, Sizes 5 and 6 — Non-reversing starters contain an ACmagnetically-operated Size 5 or Size 6line contactor and block Type B three-pole overload relay, along with threecurrent transformers. A control relaywhose contacts handle the coil currentof the starter is provided with Size 6starters.

Class A200, Sizes 7, 8 and 9 — Non-reversing starters contain a DCoperated line contactor, DC power sup-ply, block Type B three-pole overloadrelay with three current transformersand a control relay.
