Effects of Noise
Accumulation of noise back to the node
Teaching how tocombat noise!!!
Building Value
Explain the importance of correcting noise related issues
Quick Facts
• Most labor intensive part of the network• Costliest part of the network ~ 3 times more
footage• Seven out of ten service calls are generated
by problems at the drop
Drop System Ingress Mitigation Program
(DSIMP)
THE 5 STEPS TO DSIMP
Ask the customer to turn on all appliances including
TV,VCR,DVD
-the more equipment they turn on, the better.
Step #1
Plug the customers drop into your meter and check the 5 to 42 mHz return “Upstream Spectrum”
- 30 dBmV is our benchmark
We are looking for ingress energy to be lower than - 30 dBmV.
Step #2
Forward and return scans must be made.
Tiling can be caused by unwanted energy under forward carriers also.
Step #3
Peak Hold-
We use this function to catch fast moving transient noise.
Step #3
Verify individual outlets
and educate the customer
Step #5
Real hands-on experience
