    Advice and opinions.Sin duda, usted ya se habra farniliarizado can el verbaauxiliar modal should, empleado en anteriores unidadespara dar consejos y expresar opiniones. Existe una alter-nativa al usa de should que todavia no conoce: ought to1'J:t t'dl. (Observe que mientras should va seguido de uninfinitivo, entre ought y el infinitivo del verba que corre -ponda se situa la particula to.)Para subrayar el hecho de que, en el habla informal,ought to es simplemente una alternativa de should eldialogo grabado en la cassette reproducido eo esta pa-gina es, en lineas generales, el mismo que via en la uni-dad 42 (pag. 858).     Utilizar should de este modo en una frase condicional relativa al futu-ro hace que una posibilidad parezca menos probable.     Written EnglishRobinson Crusoe.The name of the English writer Daniel Defoe first appeared in this course when we discussed some British novelists inUnit 46 (pp. 948-949). The hero of his most famous novel is Robinson Crusoe, a seaman who is shipwrecked on a desertisland and spends thirty-five years there.     Daniel Defoe (1660-1731).Daniel Defoe is considered by many people to be the first real novelist in

    : English literature.He was born in London. His father's name was James Foe, but Danielchanged his name to Defoe about 1695.He had intended to become a priest, but changed his mind and became .3merchant, travelling widely in Britain and Europe.
