Pending Review 07/01-17-6/30/22 1 R01 CA221299-01 Sponsor: NCI PI: Nicholson Direct costs: $2.5 million Randomized trial assessing impact of physical activity and weight control intervention on weight loss and biomarkers affecting prognosis among endometrial cancer survivors Despite being the foremost obesity-driven cancer world-wide, endometrial cancer and its survivors have received relatively little attention with regard to behavioral interventions to reduce obesity and cardiovascular risk factors. Our goal is to conduct a randomized controlled trial comparing the effects of a multi-modal lifestyle interventions with standard survivorship care. 07/01/2017-6/30/2021 Sponsor: National Institute of Minority Health Disparities Racial Differences in Treatment with Hysterectomy: a Multilevel Investigation

Direct costs: $2,404,268

Since the 1980s, hysterectomy, or surgery to remove the uterus, has been extremely common and marked by large racial differences. On the other hand, cancer-reducing surgical innovations during hysterectomy, like prophylactic removal of fallopian tubes, may spread more slowly among racial/ethnic minorities. Analyzing thousands of medical records, we will evaluate what’s driving these racial differences: medical need or the culture of healthcare?

4/1/2017-03/31/2021 Sponsor: American Heart Association (PI: Gordon-Larsen) Role- co-investigator Direct costs: $3,709,200 Sources of heterogeneity in obesity: cellular, -omics, genetic, and differential treatment response Transdisciplinary effort to better classify the heterogeneity of obesity, investigate the causes, consequences and efficacy of different treatments for obesity. Key cores include experimental designs, epidemiologic analyses and a training core.
