SCHOLARLY EXPERTISE

My scholarly interests and expertise are located at the nexus of research, theory, and educational leadership practice that aims to improve teaching and learning. Several of my research efforts have been designed to deepen and mobilize both practical and research knowledge that links theory with systematic inquiry in the field. My two books, a number of recent papers, and several research reports focus on school and system leadership in the Canadian context. Commissioned research reports and papers have been completed for Alberta Education, the Alberta Association of Deans of Education (AADE), the Alberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA), the Alberta Association of Public Charter Schools (TAAPCS), the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA), the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS), and the Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC). In addition to serving as a speaker or facilitator for the each of these education partners, I have also made scholarly contributions to the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA), the Association of School Business Officials of Alberta (ASBOA), and the Association of Independent Schools and Colleges of Alberta (AISCA). I have been working with these and other education partners to develop a critical, systematic, and research informed knowledge base within the larger field of educational leadership. My scholarly expertise is firmly directed toward the development of leadership and teaching practices and policies designed to enhance the engagement, learning, and well being of all students.
