CAREER OBJECTIVE: To achieve highest position of academic and professional growth in nursing so as
to contribute optimally to nursing practice, education, leadership and research; and make significant
contribution to University’s vision of leading with scholarly excellence besides impacting health outcomes of
the people of Kenya
PERSONAL STATEMENT: I’m a mental health nurse and international research ethics specialist with wide
experience in clinical and community mental health nursing practice, sexual and gender based violence,
administration, education and research as well as professional nursing. I champion nurse empowerment for
quality nursing and the broader health care .I believe in integrating research ,innovation, teaching and
mentorship in the process of creating interest in mental health care among students, non-mental health
personnel and the general public. I believe that creating interest in mental health care is a major step
towards quality mental health care, better client outcomes and a healthy population that contributes to
Kenya Government vision 2030.
I have also been the National lead trainer in a project to improve quality of nursing care through
mainstreaming the Kenya- nursing process in clinical settings. I have participated in several mental health
researches and published either as a supervisor,CO-PI or PI. I also have knowledge gained from Post

Graduate Diploma in International Research Ethics that is critical in research with vulnerable populations
such as children, adolescents and individuals with mental disorders. As a mental health nurse specialist, I
coordinate post graduate courses in mental health and psychiatric nursing. I work with community health
organizations and students in clinical rotations in mental health facilities to provide primary, secondary and
tertiary mental health services to the vulnerable populations with consideration to their diverse cultures and
biopsychosocial determinants of health.
