6. Forest Policy and Economic Analyst and Principal Investigator (2006-2009)

Lead, supervised and coordinated multidisciplinary team of experts for the implementation of project.

Conducted survey on ‘Assessment of Conflicts among Forestry, Agriculture and Land Use Policies in Nigeria and Ghana’ while reviewing existing forestry, agriculture and land policies and identify conflicting

areas among these policies; verifying land scarcity in the landowning communities and evidence of

encroachment in the forest reserves; identifying prevailing causes and effects of the conflicts in the study area; examining the effects of the policies on landowning communities and the extent to which the

policies recognize and integrate landowning communities’ concern in forest management; and recommending methods of resolution of conflicts among the governments, key stakeholders and the local

land users on sustainable land use based on findings and proposed land use plan in forest and agriculture land areas.

Provided technical advice and operational support in developing and implementing project proposal,

strategies, result frameworks, work plans, budget and logical framework approach.

Reserve in Iddo Local Government of Oyo State, Nigeria’ while conducting analysis of the institutional arrangements which have effect on CBFM activities; documenting the existing indigenous knowledge

and capacity of communities to implement CBFM; assessing and documenting non-forestry activities; collecting information on threats and constraints to CBFM and proposing strategies for improvement;

identifying the various stakeholders and their likely roles in CBFM; documenting the existing forest-based enterprises dependent on CBFM activities and evaluating their sustainability and commercial success;

assessing the perception of members of communities on forest-based livelihoods and opportunities offered by CBFM to reduce rural poverty.
