Courses taught: History and national folklore, History of culture RESEARCH I am currently researching the implications of migration to Georgia of a community of

peasants from the State of Querétaro, Mexico. In the last decade, these peasants were forced to relocate when the construction of a major World Bank-funded hydroelectric project, a product of the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), destroyed their communities in the early 1990's. I am exploring the impact of the loss of their main source of work, their land, and the subsequent loss

"Padre Kino Research Project." A multidisciplinary research project investigating

pioneer/missionary Padre Kino's life and work in Northwest Mexico and Southwest United States, including his impact on ethnic groups and social classes. Project funded by the Secretary of Agriculture and Hydraulic Resources, Government of Mexico, December 1985-May1987.

"Petroleum pollution and its effects on the health of Mexican residents in the coastal

regions." A comparative study of the health of residents of two fishing villages in the States of Tabasco and Veracruz, Mexico. Fieldwork carried out to fulfill requirements for the Masters Degree in Anthropology from Michigan State University, Summer 1981.

"Socio-anthropological research of a textile industry in Mexico City: the health of the

textile workers." Research carried out under my direction for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Government of Mexico, 1979-1980.
