1 Curriculum Vitae Professor Robert E. Hinson Brief Profile Dr. Robert Ebo Hinson is an Associate Professor and immediate past Head of the Department of Marketing & Customer Management (M & CM) at the University of Ghana Business School. He is currently Acting Head of Hilla Limann Hall at the University of Ghana. Dr. Hinson’s research researches enterprise development issues with a quadruple focus on marketing and communications, technology management, service management; as well as social responsibility and sustainability management. Dr. Hinson, has taught a PhD course in Marketing Perspectives on Corporate Social Responsibility; Master of Philosophy courses in Research Design and Qualitative Techniques as well as Internet Business and Electronic Marketing. At the MBA level, he has lectured at the University of Ghana, courses like Marketing Management, Consumer Behaviour and Sales Strategy, Marketing of Services, International Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications and Marketing Research. He lectures Services Marketing at the University of the Free State Business School as well. He has also taught undergraduate courses like Social Responsibility and Ethics, Elements of Marketing, Marketing Research, and Introduction to Business Administration. Dr. Hinson is published in internationally rated journals like Corporate Governance, International Journal of Bank Marketing, Journal of Financial Services Marketing, International Journal of Public Sector Management, International Journal of Market Research, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Internet Research, and the Thunderbird International Business Review. Dr. Hinson is an Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Bank Marketing and the African Journal of Economic and Management Studies; and has supervised/is supervising BSc. MBA, MPhil and PhD students. Professor Hinson has been consultant to several service institutions in Ghana and sits on the board of Camelot Company Limited (listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange), Starlife Company Limited, BUSAC Fund; and chairs the board of Telemedia Communications; a marketing communications firm in Ghana. Curriculum Vitae Professor Robert E. Hinson

Brief Profile Dr. Robert Ebo Hinson is an Associate Professor and immediate past Head of the Department of Marketing & Customer Management (M & CM) at the University of Ghana Business School. MISCELLANEOUS CONSULTANCIES UNDERTAKEN Some of my major consultancies over the last 9 years are captured next: Bank Management October 2004 – January 2005 Cal Bank Brand Re-launch, Communications Advisor, Cal Bank IPO Robert worked as Marketing Communications Advisor to Cal Bank, a bank that eventually got listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange. There was an over subscription of shares by over 250% making it the most successful IPO in Ghana to date. Communication assignment was peculiar however because the Cal Bank brand had to be re-launched prior to share offer. Re-launched tools included a change of name from Cal Merchant Bank to Cal Bank, a multi-media advertising campaign; a press launch to announce name change, a PR campaign and a direct marketing campaign to key CAL stakeholders. July- August 2005 Brand Consultant, Merchant Bank Brand Re-launch Robert worked as Brand Consultant to Merchant Bank and his key tasks included

• Development of a 2 year brand plan for the Merban corporate brand • Development of an Internal Marketing Communication Strategy for the revamped

Merchant Bank April 2006 – August 2006 HFC Bank Held a service management seminar on service marketing and relational strategies for improving corporate productivity as part of a new service revolution in HFC Bank. Advised on the change of the corporate pay-off line of HFC Bank and on new elements of a proposed master brand communications campaign for HFC Bank. Advised on the crafting of a corporate identity manual/brand book for HFC Bank to serve as a guide to all brand communications for HFC Bank. Held a brand management Seminar for senior management of HFC Bank.

Also trained 100 AMALBank employees on a new service orientation as a synchronization strategy with new AMALBank brand values. May-August 2009 Standard Chartered Bank Assisted in the conceptualization and execution of a service behaviour change campaign for Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana. Trained every member of staff on new service behaviours for the bank. July-September 2010 GOIL Assisted in the conceptualization of a brand agency evaluation model and led a team to choose an agency for GOIL’s rebranding program. Other Consultancy Assignments April 2004 to December, 2004 Technical Advisor, Ministry for Private Sector Development Supervisor of the Grow the Young Entrepreneur Competition The Grow the Young Entrepreneur was a public sector initiative whose objective is to encourage and support Ghanaian youths to become more entrepreneurial. 10 eventual winners were chosen in Quarter 4 of 2004 by a panel of industrialists. Winning teams were awarded a prize of $6,000, and were provided with training to kick-start their business. Captains of Industry Outreach programme to universities where successful entrepreneurs hold seminars to encourage students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. A parallel communication approach is also adopted where there are television screenings of successful entrepreneurs telling their stories of how they build their business. August 2004 – January 2005 Communications Expert, DANIDA Sponsored Development of Business Practice Codes Robert worked as an associate consultant to PriceWaterhouseCoopers on the development of codes of good business practice for private and public sector enterprises in Ghana. Robert consulted as the project’s communications expert and assisted in drafting the communications strategy once an appropriate framework for the introduction, dissemination and enforcement of the codes had been designed.
