Key Qualifications:

Mehdi Karimi has more than 4 years of experience in numerical modelling of metocean

phenomena and also sediment transport and marine pollutions modeling. He has been involved

in, among other high profile coastal engineering projects, the Monitoring and Modelling Studies

of Coastal Zone of Hormozgan Province Project to be named as one of the biggest coastal

engineering projects in the Middle East. In this project which covers a 1500 km coastline,

numerous measurements were performed a long with various modelling activities i.e. 30 years of

wind and wave hind cast, 62 years of storm analysis, tidal modelling, 3d modelling, sediment

and morphological modelling, etc. This project was performed under supervision of Sogreah

consultants (France). Mehdi was the major member of this project. He cooperates with Sogreah

and GlobOcean companies in the offshore wave and wind modelling and sediment transport.

During his Master thesis, he studied Integrated Numerical Modeling of Oil Spills, Sedimentation

and Transport of Oil in Sediment Laden in Marine Waters. In his thesis, An Integrated 2DH

numerical model based on Eulerian approach including hydrodynamics, suspended sediment

transport and oil-slick transport modules has been developed. FVM method and ADI

(Alternating Direction Implicit) scheme have been employed for disceritization and solving

governing equations. The second order Lax-Wendrof and second order central difference

schemes have been used for advective and diffusive terms respectively. Multiphase oil spill

model (MOSM) approach has been taken to simulate oil slick and flow interaction. All three

modules of the numerical model have been validated against experimental data.

Mehdi has also been involved in designing of multiple ports in Iran. He specifically performed

the hydrodynamic modelling studies and also designed the breakwaters. The Padideh port in

Kish and Hendorabi new pot can be names as highlights. Besides I have experience in Numerical

programming (FORTRAN) and Also, I've developed many programs in MATLAB.
