My position at Wescott coatings is a remedial painter working at the Hunterston Power Station on the Convertor site in Scotland. My duties on a day to day basis are :- scraping off old Interchar and applying new, once the drying process has finished I then sand down and apply top coat of Interthane 990.I have experienced a good knowledge and understanding of a Nuclear power station.I hope by the end of this job I will also gain a MEWP licence.

My current position working at the Shetland Gas Plant was a remedial painter.The job consisted of blasting pipe work, support brackets and chips. It was then brought through a series of paint coats, from 2 pack high builds, finish top coats to single pack heat resistant paint, depending on customer requirements.I also painted top coats to the Fire proofing, on Chartex 7 and M90I have gained valuable experience working on such a vast site as the Shetland Gas PlantIn both work ethnic and safety to myself and others.I would like to further my knowledge in this field as well as gain qualifications to be the best I can be for both myself and new employment. 9th February 2015 – 17th July 2015 Barrier Ltd

My current position within Barrier Ltd is a sprayer/remedial painter. My current location of work is the Heerema Docks in Hartlepool. My current role consists of spraying and creating non slip surfaces for the weather deck of Cygnus P.U (gas rig). I have also undertaken work applying sealer coats on top of TSA. Although spraying has been a major part of my job role I have also carried out remedial painting work to pipes and structure. This consisted of sheeting out an area to be worked in, to ensure a clean hazard free environment to work. I would then blast pipes and structure with a small Ibix with garnet. All paint would be applied depending on specific requirements for both pipes and structure. My work has been inspected by Barrier paint inspectors/Heerema and GDF Suez to ensure a high standard of finish.

My time at Barrier has been both challenging and rewarding. Due to my contract coming to an end I am seeking new employment to excel my capabilities and skills. I feel this will be reached through new challenges and experiences but ultimately through my hard work and determination.

My job title at N.P.C is Painter/Labourer. My duties would include prep work (masking) prior to blasting and painting. I would then stripe coat jobs before primer/high build (depending on customer requirements) and topcoat is applied. Other duties includes general maintenance to company premises and keeping the shop floor clean/tidy and hazardous free. I also worked on site at customer premises for touch ups and repaint jobs to their specification.

My job title at the Woodshop was a paint sprayer. My main duties included prep work of filler & sanding before priming and top coating radiator cabinets. I also mixed paints & stains to customer’s desired colour & texture. I have knowledge of working with saws/routers & other machines. During my time at the Woodshop I also got the opportunity to visit customer’s homes to measure and fit goods purchased from the woodshop. I liaised with Lesley from Fluer Interiors for colour requirements to best suite the cabinet colour.

My job title at Miller’s was a CNC Profiler. My main duties were programming the machine to cut the parts for excavation buckets. I also did hand and machine burning of weld preps. I used Chamfer machine for the edges. I also have experience of using a grinder and can prep for welders and platers. I have also done an in house counter balance fork lift truck test and crane.

Supports, Rafter Strengthening, Purlin Walls, Installation and Plaster Boarding. I did all joinery work and 2nd fix ,staircases as well hand rails and spindles.

My job role included all aspects of French polishing from stain colour to basecoats and top coats. I also did stripping and re-polishing, colour tints and re-coats. I also helped the joiners to construct safety screens for banks and building societies.

My job role at Scotch Corner was a shop assistant dealing with jewellery selling a wide range of Scottish/highland merchandise.

Other ExperienceUpon leaving school I gained an apprentiship for an French polishing company West End Cabinet LTD. It was on this apprentiship I gained my knowledge, experience and passion for becoming a French polisher. I gained hands on experience in polishing, joinery, machining and bonding (plastic laminating). At my time working for West end cabinets I made, fitted and polished bar counters and reception desks. I can work as a team player or by using my own initiative.
