Herpetology and animal behavior especially as it pertains to snakes. Reptile and amphibian

health, especially as it relates to captive reptiles in the pet trade. Arboreal, defensive, and social behavior

in snakes. North American reptile ecology and snake survey techniques, especially in wetland and

bottomland areas. Hybridization of North American Colubrid species. Crotalid venom and its medical and

toxilogical properties as well as nursing care for envenomated patiences. The genetic and taxonomic

relationships of the Lampropeltini tribe and the gene expression of snake morphs and hybrids. General

companion animal management practices of both domesticated and exotic species. Cardiovascular

physiology and embryology of snakes, alligators, and turtles. Microbes and parasites of north east texas

reptiles. STEM education and youth involvement with animals especially reptiles.

Major Areas of Community Involvement/Development Interest STEM education and youth involvement in science and agricultural projects and activities.

Increase in STEM knowledge from hands on experiences. Urban and community involvement in wildlife

and conservation projects. Agricultural effects on wetland and bottomland communities. Animal

nutrition and plants and animals in the industry. Human nutrition as it results to agricultural food

production.
