I was external reviewer and member of 7 PhD committees (Politecnico of Milano, Italy (2); University of Melbourne, Australia (2); Rovira i Virgili University, Spain; Australian National University, Australia; EPFL, Switzerland). AWARDS I have received 9 awards for best paper at international conferences, the EH Thompson award for best paper on journal (yearly award given for the originality of the contents and the value of the paper) and 1 ISPRS President's Honorary Citation (award given every 4 years). PATENT Method and apparatus for analysing an object – EP2154516A1 SPIN-OFF I participated in the establishment of 3 spin-off companies: 4DiXplorer, ATS-Enterprise and Smart3K. RESEARCH INTERESTS & ACTIVITIES I work as scientist in the Geospatial domain and I am fascinated by how this field can support developments and innovations in several other domains which use geographic / spatial data, e.g. smart cities, energy management, climate change, natural hazard assessment, heritage documentation, industrial metrology, monitoring, etc. I started my research career in photogrammetry at ETH Zurich being more involved in the heritage field and human body modelling. But then I got actively involved also in the 3D mapping domain for 3D city model generation, cartography updating, efficient management of energy and natural resources, natural hazard monitoring and mapping, creative industry, etc. My ambition to better valorise my research results pushed me to be always involved in international societies (ISPRS, CIPA and EuroSDR) and

4

activities. This has significantly increased the quality, the quantity and the utilisation of my research work. As shown in my track record, my work has led to many scientific and professional publications, invited talks and awards, with more than 50 among scientific conferences and knowledge transfer events. Since 2010 I lead a research group in FBK Trento and in 2013 I received the scientific qualification for Full University Professor (08/A4 - Geomatics).
