In the labs of Prof. Carlo Scolastico at Università di Milano, Dr. Antonio Trincone spent different months (December 1984- January 1985) for the chemical synthesis of double labelled mevalonic acid using stable isotopes (13C e 2H) in different positions, for the study of biosynthesis of archaeal lipids for degree thesis.

Dr. Antonio Trincone spent a week time in the labs of Prof. K.O. Stetter at Regensburg University Germany dedicating his activity to the structural identification of membrane lipids of new freshly identified Archaea.

He won a competitive examination for a permanent staff position of “Collaboratore tecnico-professionale” at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche n. 943458 pos. 307.58.14, 25/1/1988, Istituto per la Chimica di Molecole di Interesse Biologico in 1987 then he was assigned in the role of Researcher after deliberation by Consiglio Scientifico of the Istituto di Chimica di Molecole di Interesse Biologico on June 17th 1988. Degree thesis was entitled “Biogenesi lipidica negli Archeobatteri”, conducted at Istituto per la Chimica di Molecole di Interesse Biologico, CNR. Dr. Antonio Trincone was hired in a permanent staff position as laboratory technician at Istituto per la Chimica di Molecole di Interesse Biologico Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) (from 29 April-1983 up to 31 December-1987).
