Summary of Achievements : • Turned around a high cost project in serious difficulties to one that came in on

time within budget for a major private hospital (Mater Misericordiae, North Sydney) when CEO during the time of the decommissioning of the old hospital and the opening of the new hospital.

• Negotiated salary package with major union (Nurses) and staff that included removal of a 5% above award payment.

• Appointed at the request of the Minister for Family and Community Services as Acting General Manager of Home Care Services after sudden resignations of the Executive Director and Deputy Director.

• Set-up and managed Efficiency and Effectiveness Team for an organisation with staff of 6500 and a budget of $60 million (Home Care Service of NSW).

Founded the Nonprofit Governance and Management Centre to resource the boards of nonprofit, community and religious organisations.

• Commenced the governance Newsletter "Board Matters" for nonprofit board members in 2000. There are now over 10,000 board members reading this newsletter.

• Invested in The Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community for governance resourcing of the non-profit sector in Australia .

• Independent Expert Witness on religious governance for the Supreme Court of Queensland in the matter of St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland versus Ozcare Limited . This case was resolved in favour St Vincent de Paul Society in Queensland.

• Conducted a comprehensive Review of the Governance & Management of the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand (2014-2015).

• Presently, conducting a Review and Re-Modelling the governance structure of Lutheran Education Australia .

• Restored relationship between builders of the new hi-tech (200 bed acute care surgical) hospital and the board and staff of the 90 year old (120 bed private surgical) hospital, including turning the project from a high cost one in serious difficulties to one that came in within budget and on time. Building cost $70 million.

• Ensured that the philosophy and mission of the Sisters of Mercy, provided the framework for all hospital policies and decisions

• Coordinated with agencies including Department of Health, Private Hospitals Association and Catholic Health Care Association

• Developed operating budget for new and old hospitals and for purchasing of furniture and equipment for new hospital

• Co-ordinated hospital's input into the detailed planning of the new hospital

• Negotiated with Nurses Association of NSW and staff for new pay conditions that included removal of a 5% above-award payment in return for other entitlements

• Co-ordinated staff activities to maximise effectiveness and developed financial and statistical information systems to monitor performance

This Commission was set up and funded by the Catholic Bishops of Australia . It worked principally in the areas of policy development, lobbying , community education and networking for local community groups. It developed and maintained an extensive overseas network, with emphasis on overseas aid issues

An overview of the work I completed :

• Developed the Commission's network throughout Australia

• Organised the CCJP's first national consultation on justice and peace (350 participants)
