October 1999-March 2005 Writing books on the subject of the Portuguese Atlantic Slave Trade to Brazil from the earliest days of the trade to the post-colonial era. This was working in Residential Family Centers for families that had been disrupted by various kinds of problems, or for children and teenagers from ethnic minority backgrounds who had no families in Britain. Tasks could include anything from basic primary care; to being a special project leader working with specific young people either in-house or at their own homes. October 1978-May 1981 This job involved mainly proof reading various In House Publications before they were sent to the printer ready for final publication. The newspapers and magazines I worked on were BP Onsite, Plessey Pulse, Lever Mirror and Inchcape Magazine. I also went to the printers to assist with layout and `putting the story to bed` - i.e. in its final format ready for publication. I do speak and write a little Norwegian (I have passed the trinn lll qualification i norsk, though due to lack of use my norsk has deteriorated since 2003, somewhat paradoxically, as I have been living in Norway throughout this time, though always using English on the job.)
