Responsible for the development of policy research and advocacy capabilities, including setting priorities and direction of research and advocacy; advising on overall strategic direction of the organisation; ensuring effective quality assurance systems; development of a knowledge management strategy; and line management of Country Directors in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sudan.

1996 to 1998 Intermediate Technology Development Group (ITDG), Rugby, UK International Policy Research Manager

Responsible for economic and policy inputs into ITDG research, managing and providing economic inputs to UK-led research projects, disseminating policy research findings in publications and at international fora, particularly in the areas of ICTs, small enterprise development and environment.

Responsible for financial and socio-economic appraisal, monitoring and evaluation of appropriate technology projects in the manufacturing, agro-processing, fisheries and energy sectors; providing socio-economic advice in relation to Appropriate Technology, and small and medium scale enterprise development; project formulation and planning, including procedures for project appraisal and monitoring and evaluation.

1979 to 1982 Ministry of Local Government and Lands, Serowe, Botswana District Officer (Development)

Responsible for the co-ordination of development activities in Central District; assisting and advising on the preparation of development proposals by the District Council, government field officers and NGOs; consultation with and training of Village Development Committees. Participation in inter-sectoral co-ordination and planning committees. District Census Officer (1981), including recruitment, training and deployment of enumerators and supervisors.

1978 to 1979 Ministry of Home Affairs, Gaborone, Botswana Planning Officer

Responsible for the design of projects in conjunction with Departments, preparing project memoranda, preparation and administration of Ministry’s development budget, preparation of Ministry’s sections of the fifth National Development Plan.
