c. Electrophoresis: acrylamide slab, disc gel, crossed antigen/antibody, immuno- and high voltage paper.

d. Purification of glycopeptides, amino acid analyses, carbohydrate compositional analyses, gas chromatography, and peptide mapping techniques.

4. Enzymology: a. Quantitation of human serum glycoprotein glycosyltransferase activities in normal

individuals and patients with alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency and juvenile hepatic cir-rhosis.

b. Comparison of the kinetic properties of human serum and liver alpha-1-antitrypsin sialic acid transferases.

These studies resulted in the first demonstration of a generalized glycoprotein sialic acid transferase deficiency associated with liver cirrhosis due to alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency in humans
