NANYANG TECHNOPRENEURSHIP CENTER Acting Director, Deputy Director, Associate Professor 11/06 – 01/10 Acting Director and Deputy Director of the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center (NTC), a leading international entrepreneurial business and technological innovation center based at Singapore’s public technology university. Students represented disciplines from across the university with the majority from highly ranked engineering and business schools. Administrator responsible for designing, planning and implementing international entrepreneurial business and technological innovation education initiatives across all disciplines of the university. Academic Program Development Contributed to making NTC an international frontrunner in entrepreneurship and innovation education. Instrumental in fostering the Kauffman Foundation’s 1st international Kauffman Campus outside of the United States. Collaborated with Kauffman Foundation on the Singapore portion of the Kauffman Global Scholars Program. Responsible for student recruitment and increasing student enrollments. Drafted model for expanding center into a university-wide institute for entrepreneurship and innovation that would better represent education/industry interests. Initial re-design of curriculum for the program. Graduate Course Designer: Technology, Innovation and Design; Business Communication. Supervised NTC’s research initiatives. Addressed accreditation issues for various programs. Administered NTC University-wide business plan competition and its expansion to 1st nation- wide initiative in collaboration with Spring Singapore. Redefined recruitment and admission policies and standards of graduate students for English and Chinese graduate degree programs. Coordinated with US Embassy, Singapore, in overseas visa applications. Successfully transitioned center’s degree programs into self-funded, profit-oriented model when initial government grant ran out. Supervised graduate E &I case-studies, graduate theses and multi-disciplinary research. Developed and introduced Digital Design/Rapid Prototyping/Fabrication courses for engineers and entrepreneurs. Linked entrepreneurship and innovation with communication/media in fundraising and promotion initiatives for the Center and University. Provided PR and media expertise to NTU Development Office’s annual 21st Century Fund, a multi-million fundraising campaign for internal and external constituencies. Awarded University research grants of $250, 000 for media development and international distance learning models in Singapore as nation endeavors to become a science/communications hub in Southeast Asia. Professional Development Developed industry / education distance learning and mediated products for international distribution. Built technology transfer networks between venture capitalists, scientists, researchers, start-up’s and SME’s in East Asia. Chief liaison for education/industry education support for NTC. Recruited in a national search. Students primarily career-oriented learners, practicing managers and engineers from leading companies such as Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin. A market-driven, applied learning program with links to nearby Air Force Academy. Responsible for operations and administration of programs.
