Language ArtsA Balanced Literacy approach is the basis for our Language Arts curriculum.
The Balanced Literacy approach includes teaching phonics, grammar skills, reading comprehension strategies, and writing skills. Students will analyze, understand, make inferences and draw conclusions about text within a Reading & Writing Workshop structure.
Language Arts - ReadingThroughout the school year students will analyze, understand, make inferences and draw conclusions about text within a reading workshop structure. Students will learn about, read, and respond to various types of text. The curriculum, and each unit of study is genre based.

Math in FocusMath in Focus is the resource we use to teach math.
While learning a new math concept the numbers and symbols can be confusing when a student doesn't have a grasp of what they actually mean. With Math in Focus, students are guided through math concepts using a progression of CONCRETE models, PICTORIAL models and finally the ABSTRACT representations.

Students will receive a monthly homework calendar and are expected to complete their assignments in their Homework spiral each night. No more than 1 hour a night of homework will be assigned including30 minutes of readingPracticing math factsSpelling Practice
