We follow the Everydoy Mathematics curriculum. Some of the topics covered in firstgrode ata-i T2sling ond writing numbers, ploce vqlue (10s ond 1s), some bosic frqctions, money,oddition ond subtroction focts, foct fomilies, problem solving numbers, tally morks, ond shopes.They'll perform mqth independently, in smolt groups ond with the whole closs.

A Bolonced Approoch to LiteracyStudents receive direct reoding instruction in comprehension , fluency, ond word study.

Students select their own books from the clqss librory, which contoins o voriety of genres. Weuse the Fundotions reoding progrom for word study. Students get individuol instrr.tion duringreoding conf erences, qnd small group reading instruction during guided reoding. We olso teochreoding comprehension strotegies through shored reoding ond doily reod olouds. Students reodindependently everydoy with the gool of buildingtheir reoding stomino to twenty minutes. Firstgrade students focus on decoding, developing their reading f luency ond comprehension. They areencou?dged to reod silently but their "reoding voices" should sound smooth ond expressive toreflect the meoning of the text.
