Coordinated Science and Pure Science (Ms. Nellie Wong, Mr. Marc Edmonds, Mr. John Foo)

This term sees the students sit their final examinations. The Science team will still be available and

offering final advice and support. There are many past papers printed off so that exam technique

can be finely tuned but the course content has been thoroughly completed and now it is just down

to how hard the students work themselves on revision and learning key facts. We wish them well

and hope the right questions come up.

English (Mr. Mike Hayes and Ms Leanne Evans)

This term the pupils will complete three external examinations. Paper 2, as part of their English

Language IGCSE, will test their reading and comprehension skills – as well as their ability to analyse

language in depth. In preparation for this the pupils should be utilising past papers and addressing

the targets set for them. Moreover, the pupils will be completing two examinations as part of their

IGCSE English Literature course. Paper 1 will focus on the 10 short stories from ‘Stories of

Ourselves’, in addition to 15 poems from ‘Songs of Ourselves’. Paper 3 will focus on the play ‘A

View from a Bridge.’ For both of these exams the pupils must show a good understanding of the

texts studied and analyse language in depth.

Extended Mathematics (Ms Yogeswari Boghan and Mr Shahrul Afzanizam)

This term, the students will continue to revise in preparation for their examination. They will also

continue to practice past year papers.

Business Studies (Ms. Lily Ho)

During the Summer term, Year 11 Business Studies students will be practicing their examination

techniques. Through the use of past exam papers we will practice and discuss the most

appropriate method in which to answer the questions to gain maximum marks. We will also

review all the topics which we have learnt since Year 10.

Global Perspectives (Ms. Lily Ho)

During the summer term Year 11 Global Perspectives students will be practicing their examination techniques. Through the use of past exam papers we will practice and discuss the most appropriate method in which to answer the questions to gain maximum marks.

Malay Language (Malay Language (Mrs. Rabiahtul Bazariah & Mrs. Pattmagowri Muniandy)

The students will sit their final examinations this term. Students are required to do pass year IGCSE questions as part of their revisions.

Geography (Mr. Christopher Terry)

The long road of IGCSE Geography is sadly coming to an end very soon for Year 11. Students have been terrific ambassadors to the school during their entire duration of studying Geography and have positioned themselves to be extremely successful with their IGCSE exams. Students will be revising content material and Skills papers during lesson times. For homework, students will be given past papers so that they can practice in their own time. We wish them all the best on their coming exams and believe they are going to achieve splendid results!

Mandarin as a 1st Language (Mrs. Pang Sook Yee)

This term, students will focus on their individual areas for improvement. They will complete additional exercises to strengthen their skills. Students will become more familiar with the examination topics and tasks by practising past year papers. Learning more Chinese proverbs, opening and closing strategies will enrich their writing content. They are encouraged to read more model essays to further strengthen their vocabulary for writing.

Mandarin as a 2nd Language (Ms. Heng Yue Shi)

This term, students will focus on their final preparation for the ICSGE examination. They will complete additional exercises to strengthen their skills. Students will become more familiar with the examination topics and tasks by practising past year papers. They will learn more idioms for their writing and strategies for their comprehension. They will have to read more good writing examples to brush up their writing.

Mandarin as a Foreign Language (Ms. Soon Saw Imm)

This term, students will revise vocabulary including language relating to asking for directions and house partition. They will look at a range of passages containing different types of sentence structure and vocabulary. Students are expected to write 80-100 words using these skills in their IGCSE Paper 2 Guided Writing. Listening tasks will take place on various articles to sharpen their listening skills so that students can better face the challenge of IGCSE Paper 1. The students will be expected to write an essay comprising 150 words with varied vocabulary and appropriate sentence structures. The IGCSE past year papers will be discussed with guidance given on examination strategies.

Music (Ms. Carrena Tung)

Now that all coursework is completed, year 11 will focus entirely on the listening exam. By dividing the exam into its composite sections of Section A (European History), Section B (World Music), Section C (Skeleton Score) and Section D (Set Work), the pupils will revisit each topic. Pupils will recap keywords and theory knowledge in order to apply them accurately. Students will need to know features of each genre of music studied such as instruments and compositional techniques. Pupils will use listening exercises, practise papers and past papers to prepare them for the listening exam on Wednesday 6th June.

History (Mr. David Geary)

This final term will see Year 11 focus on final revision for their three IGSCE History Papers. In

preparation for Paper 1 they will revise topics from all sections of the Core Content and the USA

Depth Study and practice 4, 6 and 10 mark questions. For paper 2 they will do in depth revision on

the Containment topic and practice source-style questions. Finally for paper 4 they will do practice

40 mark essays both in class and for homework and revise the USA depth study in more detail.

ICT (Ms. Lily Ho)

Year 11 ICT students will be practicing their practical skills in Word processing, spreadsheets,

databases, web authoring, email and presentation authoring in preparation for their IGCSE

practical examination at the beginning of the term. The rest of the term students will be learning

about the effect of using IT in industries, the potential health problems related to the prolonged

use of IT equipment, ICT applications in different scenarios and the system life cycle. They will also

be practicing their examination techniques through the use of past exam papers.
