Inspirational Learning on the Mornington Peninsula Curriculum Extra-Curricular Successful learning occurs when students are motivated, engaged and connected to their college, their community and their education. Mornington Secondary College aims to ensure that each and every student has the opportunity to participate in a wide choice of extra and co-curricular activities. Extra-curricular activities available include the College Production (this year it is High School Musical), the Debutante Ball, Instrumental Music, Art, Student Leadership, the RACV Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Challenge, Aerobics, Debating, Sport, the State School Spectacular and international programs such as Japan-Osaka Student Exchange and an Indonesian Study Tour to Bali. Lunchtime and before and after-school clubs also operate including Breakfast, Art, Swimming, Chess, Soccer, Aerobics, Athletics, Basketball and Table Tennis, with the options expanding each year as student interests and participation grows. A fully equipped Gym and exercise studio is open to students, supervised by staff. Whole school athletics and swimming carnivals are organised on a House basis. The level of enthusiasm and participation of staff and students on both these days is very high - a sausage sizzle, novelty events as well as the competitive events make it a great day for all. Students and staff both dress in their house colours and are all extremely vocal about supporting their teams. The most important goals of these days are to build college spirit and whole college connectivity. In the senior years, an extensive work experience program and structured pathways plans provide students with many opportunities to prepare for the workplace. Our Student Leadership Program provides extensive student leadership opportunities in college, community, sports, curriculum and artistic endeavours. A number of co-curricular programs operate to support students academically. This includes Top Up, which operates twice a week to top up students Maths, Literacy, Numeracy and English skills or just get on top of their homework. Study assistance at VCE includes lunchtime and afternoon master classes in Folio preparation, English, Literature, PE, Mathematics and Science. (Biology, Physics, Chemistry). Some of the many extra-curricular activities - College Production, HPV, Girls Surf and the Presentation Ball.
