    Fourth year students of Immaculate Concepcion Academy join, together with the repre

    sentatives from UPLB SELES, in a group shduring the last day of UPCAT Review, July 30

    The Blue Team treaded its way tovictory after trouncing the Red, Greenand Yellow teams during IntraOrg 2011held at the UPLB campus last August 6.

    Continuing the pursuit to fostercamaraderie and sportsmanship amongthe UPLB SELES family, the Sports Com-mittee gave the annual activity a twistsuch that it was held like the reality TV

    game show The Amazing Race.The Head of the Sports Commit-

    tee, Tito Pascual Jr, along with its mem-bers, prepared different activities onevery station and ensured that theteams would not only be physically chal-lenged, but also mentally and financially.Among the favorite stations of the teamswere the uod station, hanapan-ng-

    banga/rest station, cooking station, find-the-paper-clip station, and beat-the-SportsCom station.

    Blue Jabs aimed for the best andfortunately ranked 1sts at the end of thestations. All the sweat shed in this rigor-ous activity and my teams hard work

    really paid off, Justine TrishaContreras, team leader of the new de-fending champion, said.

    Aside from the championship title, Blue Team also won for the besdessert award. Yellow Team won thebest yell award, for their cheer: Di

    Dilaw, Di-Di-Dilaw-law!... Green Teamwon the best banner award for their flag

    with Raymond Marqueses face paintedon it. Red Team won the award for be-ing the earliest in the 6:30 am call timeset at DL Umali Hall steps. Overall, theRed, Green and Yellow teams ranked4th, 3rd and 2nd places, respectively.

    The Sports Committee wasthankful to all the members and alumnwho participated in this activity.

    IntraOrg was again a success asit was able to showcase our fellow brodsand sisses hidden talents while effec-tively enhancing sportsmanship andharmonious relationship with eachother, Pascual said.

    CEAT orgs tambayan

    move to EE building

    In accordance to the project of the

    CEAT SC, the renovation of the CEAT Stu-dent Lounge, all tambayans were relocated

    to the Electrical Engineering building. The

    lounge will be renovated for two to three

    months long and a canteen shall be in-

    stalled in the EE building as well. The SE-

    LES tambayan was the first one to move

    last August 26.

    Among the members who made the

    relocation possible were Gamaliel Javier

    III, John Edkhalil Alvarez, Cezar John

    Estrada, Russel Villatuya and Leomel Abas.

    Also, John Davis Mangubat (President) and

    Andreo Lozada II (Vice President), helped

    in moving the tambayan.

    SportsCom readies members for EngMeet

    One of the highlights of thenight is teaching SELES sisses the

    basics of the basketball game whichinclude passing, dribbling, blockingand shooting. Grueling but highlystimulating, sisses played theirpractice game very competitively.

    In the end of the night, SE-LES members reacted positively asthey expressed their desire for morepractice games.

    The Sports Committee, ledby Tito Pascual Jr., arranged a bas-

    ketball practice for members at LosBaos National High School (LBNHS)court last August 10.

    The said practice also servesas volleyball, badminton and chesspractices for the interested mem-bers. Many members still allottedtime for the practice inspite of theinvigorating IntraOrg.

    EE Department reaps silver in Legal Minds

    among all other departments withone lost in status. Due to this, theEE department entered the finalround.

    In the final round, the EE de-partment debated against the ChEdepartment on the topic of ShouldEngineers be allowed to send aproxy to earn CPE points?, in whichthe EE department lost and led theChemical Engineering departmentwin the 1st place. Despite this, theEE faculty congratulated the debateteam for their achievement.

    The panel of judges con-

    sisted of the new College of Engi-neering and Agro-Industrial Tech-nology (CEAT) dean, Dr. Arnold R.Elepao, together with facultiesfrom different colleges in the univer-sity.

    Legal Minds is part of the25th anniversary celebration of theUPLB SChemES, held annually.

    The Electrical Engineeringdepartment ranked 2nd place in Le-

    gal Minds - an inter-department en-gineering debate hosted by theUPLB Society of Chemical Engineer-ing Students (SChemES) - held lastAugust 31 at the Makiling BallroomHall, Student Union (SU) building,UPLB.

    The five members of the EEdebate team consisted of Andrea

    May Caguete, Justine TrishaContreras, Ganyfer Dorado, JohnDavis Mangubat, and Michael JosephSamson all from UPLB SELES.The debaters were trained by theircoaches Engr. John Paolo Ramosoand Engr. Karen-Christian Agno.Both of them are members of the EEdepartment faculty.

    On the first round, the EE

    department debated against the IEdepartment. The first topic dis-cussed was Should engineering un-dergraduates be allowed to be em-ployed given an opportunity? Forthis round the EE department wonagainst IE department.

    The second round of debatehad been against the ChE depart-ment on the topic of Should English

    language be imposed on engineer-ing classes?

    The EE department lost byapproximately 3% against the ChEdepartment. When the averagescores on each debates had beentallied and summarized, the EE de-partment had the highest average
