Current Issues HR Council for the Nonprofit Sector Survey – Just as the supply chain sector has a sector council dedicated to the development of our profession, so too does the non-profit sector. As associations supporting the development of people, you and your board may be interested in looking at the HR trends in the non-profit world. Your contribution could help to chart a path for the development of people in organizations like ours! Currently the HR Council for the Nonprofit Sector is undertaking a national survey. You can contribute (as an ED or an association board member) by linking to www.hrcouncil.ca/home.cfm. Experiential Learning – Career awareness has been a focus of the Council since its inception. Over the last six years, we have developed a number of resources that can be used by our partners to introduce supply chain career opportunities to students at all levels, and we need your support to bring these resources to life. In the coming months, a number of opportunities present themselves: The Don Borsk Canadian Supply Chain Career Awareness Fund – Donations are easily made on the web, and provide for a focused presentation using existing curriculum and classroom relationships (see the Council’s October newsletter for details). Details are available at www.supplychaincanada.org/en/JA-Canada. Take Our Kids to Work Day – This national event, to be held on Wednesday, November 2, requires only your time and energy. Go to www.thelearningpartnership.ca/Page.aspx?pid=250 to see how you can truly be leader! Provide co-op placements – Simply contact the business or co-op education office of your local high school, community college or CEGEP. If you are unsure of how to locate the staff responsible for co-op at the school of your choice, contact Sheryl Keenan at [email protected] , as we have a school directory that may assist us in linking you up. Act now, so that you can line up the best students!
