Dumitru BĂDULESCU, Constantin JUJANEndogenous Fire - Major Problem in Jiu Valley Coal Mine Exploitation

The great number of endogenous fires recorded at the National Hard Coal Company of Petrosani occurred while exploiting the coal seams by classical methods, but mostly after introducing the room and pillar with top coal caving method. This paper, based on the study of the causes that have generate endogenous fires in the Jiu Valley coal mines, speaks about various fighting and preventing ways that apply to the current exploitation method, by top coal caving.

Ilie ROTUNJANU, Constantin Ilie OLARIUPossibilities for Rehabilitation of The Mining Areas of The Open Pits Rovinari East and Gârla after The Cessation of The Lignite Exploitation

The Rovinari Est and Gârla open pits, in the Rovinari coal-mining district, are two areas with reserves on the wane. As a result comes the need to rehabilitate the surfaces affected by mining and to improve the environmental quality. The two perimeters are in the same area and so the issue of the rehabilitation must be taken unitary into consideration, presenting the opportunities depending on the economic criteria and the needs of the local communities, in the spirit of the sustainable development. Practical proposals for rehabilitation and reutilisation of the land are presented, as well as their share according to the category of use.

Nicolae DIMA, Larisa FILIP, Roxana ULARTransmission in The underground of The Reference System Materialized at The Surface

The methods and techniques are determined by the nature and complexity of the mining works of opening a rock that is under exploitation. The theoretical and practical content that define them show the level of the existent possibilities in the field. Such concerns are permanent, will the frame of scientific manifestation where there can be brought contributions taken and used by the specialists, exist.

Tiberiu TROTEA, Daniel ANTONIE, Grigore Iustin POPESCU, Petre DIACONESCUExtracting Technologies in Coal Deposits Affected by Major Faults in Rovinari Open Pit

ROVINARI mining is the production unit with the largest representation in the Romanian coal mining, in which the technologies of exploitation are used in all open pit around the world that use the bucket wheels excavators. The technology described and used in excavation of lignite deposits located in Rovinari coal basin have a specific way, being recommended only in similar situations from other open pit .

Today, industry throughout the world is continually object of an intense and great pressure exerted from the multitude and severity of environmental problems. Despite great efforts done by the people responsible of this domain, to solve environmental problems, it is known the idea that there can be no socio-economic development without a compromise, more or less visible, between economy and environment.Currently, the extraction and preparation activities of mineral useful should focus on implementation of clear technologies and on reaching an optimal combination of solutions to prevent environmental degradation with the use of appropriate technological solutions. The priority should be given on seeking new and effective technologies for environmental restoration in areas that need immediate solutions and implementing, in parallel, the most advanced work technology.

Titu NICULESCU, Dragos PĂSCULESCU, Leon PANĂThe Study of Intrinsic Safety Barriers of The Electric Equipments Destined to The Use in Atmospheres With Explosion Hazard

Electrical equipments destined to operate in potentially hazardous environments are externally connected through intrinsic safety barriers. Their gauging should observe the safety standards in the field and it is made on grounds of a theoretical analysis, on which this paper focuses. The analysis of the safety barrier involves the consideration for two regimes: the non - periodical regime, and the oscillatory regime. To this purpose, a theoretical analysis of the barrier was made, in which the uniformly distributed parameters were considered to be concentrated. For each of the situations mentioned above, the analytical expressions of the output voltage and of the current through the barrier were inferred. The analysis of the safety barrier is made in MATLAB environment, through numerical simulation in SIMULINK.

Sigismund DUMAMining and Environment at Roşia Montană

The gold ore from Roşia Montanč has been extracted since ancient times up to the present. While the ancient extracting and processing traditional techniques had a minimum impact upon the environment, the modern techniques have affected all the components of the natural environment. If the ore is treated according to the program issued by the Canadian company Gold Corporation, the geographic space of the area will turn into an industrial desert. The environmental problems are related both to the specific of such an industrial activity and to the use of huge quantities of sodium cyanide directly on the preparation flow from the plant. There are very few similar cases in the world. Cyanides are mostly used to treat gold ore, an operation which needs maximum security, closed spaces in isolated areas and the neutralization (detoxifying) is made on the spot. The use of cyanides in open spaces, including the flow of preparation plants, has always raised environmental problems. In fact, the neutralization technologies do not entirely eliminate the toxic effect of the cyanides; usually less toxic chemical products are obtained (cyanites, sulphuric acid, ammonia, nitrates etc.).In order to avoid an ecologic disaster and for the preservation of the local patrimony values, several recommendations should be considered, because they allow both the use of the ore - a socio-economic necessity for the area - and the ecologic reconstruction of the geographic area that has been affected.
