Nock NewsSportsman’s Dinner
What a cracking night was had by all last Saturday night, with all
three speakers on top form. The Club would like to thank them and
all the guests who came along to the Royal Hotel & everyone who
contributed to our fundraising events on the night. Once again,
Robert and his staff were first rate and played a big part in the
event’s success. Last but not least, Cumnock Juniors thanks Bobby
McCulloch for his hard work in making the Sportsman’s Dinner the
annual highlight it has become; both last Saturday and over the
years.
~
Departures
Striker Jordan Kemoe has joined Lesmahagow on a permanent
transfer.
Midfielder Graeme Ramage has also moved to Vale of Leven on a
permanent transfer.
The club would like to wish both players all the best for the future.

Good afternoon and welcome to the Beith Juniors management, players, committee and
supporters to Townhead Park for Today’s Premiership league game.
Beith are an excellent team with a good mix of experienced junior players as well as some
up-and-coming talented players in their ranks.
Johnny Millar is a manager I have great respect for and I always enjoy our games against
each other. He always sets his team up to play football in the right way by playing
expansive football, but mindful of the defensive side of the game too. Beith are currently
the West of Scotland Cup holders so that shows the quality of their team. Experienced
players who are vital for Beith, such as goalkeeper Stevie Grindlay, captain and centre
back John Sheridan, with central midfielder Paul Frize, form a very strong spine to their
team. They also have exciting and talented players such as Daz Christie, Joe Bradley and
Sean McIlroy. So the quality in their ranks is evident and we will need to be very mindful of
this for today’s game.
Before I speak about our last performance against Clydebank, I would like to say a huge
thanks to everyone who attended our sell-out Sportsman’s Dinner last Saturday. The
support in the room and good wishes towards myself and everyone associated with the
team was fantastic. Please be assured the players and I will try our very best to make us a
competitive, exciting and winning team.
Welcome to Townhead Park

In terms of changes at the club, I want to welcome my new Assistant Manager, Mark
Cameron, to the Club. Branco is a person whom I hugely respect for everything he has
done in the game and who’s opinion and knowledge I trust. I am sure he will do a
tremendous job.
Outgoing from the club are players Graeme Ramage (Vale of Leven), Jordan Kemoe
(Lesmahagow) and Jordan Banks (Maybole). I want to wish them all the best at their new
clubs.
Looking back to our last game, I was really pleased for (and with) the players for getting
another great victory at home against Clydebank. The players can be really pleased that
they had learned from the Rossvale game by going two goals to the good and managing
the game properly by securing our first clean sheet for many weeks. An excellent Andy
Dowie header and a Ryan Caddis goal were enough to see us win and finish the game
comfortably. We tweaked our formation at half time which helped the team gain more
domination of the overall play and made us more joined-up. Many players can be delighted
with their own individual performances. I thought we were solid defensively, played very
well middle-to-front and we could’ve won the game by more goals if we had taken more of
our chances.
It was also great to welcome Paul Burns back to the fold and in the coming weeks we
should have Kyle Faulds back in the reckoning. Both are quality players and make us a
stronger side with a better-balanced midfield too. In the background, Mark and I will
continually work diligently to try and bring more quality players to the club.
In short, we are delighted to have won back-to-back games, but it is imperative we try and
build on this momentum to win as many points between now and the end of the season.
For Cumnock Juniors to improve and progress as a club, we need everyone to back the
team and support the players.
Enjoy the game #ATNTony

ONE TO WATCH
Paul Frize
Attacking midfielder Frize is Beith’s top scorer and he also posts an impressive tally of assists
for his team.
Beith’s Latest League ResultBeith 2 – 5 Pollok
H2H Last Match 07/09/19
Beith 2 – 1 Cumnock
Beith manager John Millar (left) would have been disappointed with
his side’s last league result, losing 5-2 at home to Pollok.
After McIlroy levelled the score at 1-1, he would have been hoping his
team would have kicked on. But Pollok ran riot in the 2nd half.
Beith currently sit in 12th place in the Premiership with 4 points less than their hosts today, but with 3 games in-hand. Beith also have a chance of doing a league-double
over Cumnock today. Nickname

Cumnock 2 – 0 ClydebankCumnock Juniors boss Tony McInally made it 2 wins on the spin in a match which sawCumnock move up to 8th position in this ultra-competitive league. McInally wasforced into two changes from the team which won at Rossvale the previous week, withCraig McLeish and Nathan Baird unavailable. Returning, though, was Paul Burns. Theformer manager put in a sterling performance in the middle of the park and looked likethe Burns of old, controlling and dictating play. In a rather tame first half there wasn’tmuch in the way of goalmouth action, with the visitors coming closest to scoring. AllySemple did brilliantly to stop a free kick and the rebound was, somehow, shot over thebar from close range.
Half time: 0 - 0
Cumnock visibly stepped it up in the second half and were going all-out for the 3points. Andy Dowie, who was excellent all afternoon, opened the scoring only 2minutes after the restart. The big defender was unmarked at the back-post following acorner and placed a perfect header beyond Waters in the Clydebank goal. Theimpressive Ryan Caddis doubled the Nock's lead after 67 minutes with a terrific finishafter being played in by a brilliant through-ball by Dowie. Chris Campbell was unluckynot to make it 3 with a volley which whizzed just wide. McInally introduced JamieConn late in the second half and his strong direct running created a couple of chanceswhich could have made the scoreline a bit more comfortable. In the end it wasanother thoroughly deserved 3 points for the Nock.

How do you think your season is going so far?My season didn’t start off the way I’d wanted. I got injured against Troon and missed quite a few games. Since being back in the team, though, I’ve scored my first league goal for Cumnock against Rossvale and confidence is high after our recent run of positive results.
What’s your favourite sporting moment so far (across any sport)?Being a keen cyclist, my favourite sporting moment was watching Bradley Wiggins become the first British Cyclist to win the Tour de France.
What would you say is your biggest achievement so far in the game? When I was in America on a football scholarship, during my second season, I captained the team and we won the league.
www.cumnockjuniors.com
Which footballer do you idolise and why?Messi – he is just an all-round great player.
What’s your opinion on VAR?I’d put VAR in the bin. It slows down the game and I think it just ruins the game.
