Federal-Mogul Motorparts announces the availability of a new FP Diesel Piston Kit and Cylinder Kit for select Cummins QSL engines. These new kits feature articulated piston crown FP-4941393 covering the CPLs listed below. FP Diesel articulated steel pistons feature a proprietary alloy that is forged under high heat and pressure, then cooled and reheated through a special process for a stronger, more consistent microstructure and exceptional durability. Our pistons use an in-house Manganese Phosphate coating process that produces a custom proprietary coating with better grain size and texture providing greater corrosion resistance against higher sulfate diesel fuels. The coating also improves break-in performance and reduces pin bore scuffing. Other manufacturers use a lesser coating that breaks down faster increasing the chance of corrosion and pin bore scuffing.
