Cumberland University’s academic programs combine a contemporary liberal ar ts curriculum with cutting-edge technology and career preparation. Fully accredited, the University offers 21 undergraduate majors and 30 minors, in addition to seven graduate degree programs and several professional development courses.

Cumberland’s three schools—the School of Humanities, Education, and the Arts; the Labry School of Science, Technology, and Business; and the Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions—offer diverse programs leading to degrees in fields ranging from Biochemistry and Education to Nursing and English. The University also offers seven pre-professional academic areas of focus such as Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Law, and Pre-Medicine.

For the continuing student, Cumberland’s seven graduate degree programs provide a pathway to continuing professional success and advancement. Offerings range from the Master of Arts in Fine Arts program, which offers three unique tracks, to the Master of Arts in Education program, which is conducted online through Cumberland’s growing School of Online and Professional Studies.

With a 14:1 student-faculty ratio, the University provides a high-quality, personalized education blending traditional liberal ar ts concepts with cutting-edge technology, such as iPads and a wireless campus. Athletics

Cumberland University fields intercollegiate athletic teams in 21 sports, including football, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s bowling, men’s and women’s cycling and men’s and women’s cheerleading. The Bulldogs compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Mid-South Conference.

The athletics department has two team national championships, both in baseball (2004, 2010) as well as two individual wrestling national titles (2005, 2011) and three individual cycling national championships (two in 2005, 2011).

Cumberland finished one of its most successful athletic campaigns in 2012-13, with seven programs reaching the NAIA National Tournament as well as one individual. The women’s soccer team made the national tournament for the first time in program history after winning the conference tournament, while women’s basketball claimed regular season and tournament titles before reaching the Fab Four in the national tournament, posting a school-record 33-3 mark.

The Bulldog baseball program claimed its 20th regular season championship en route to the postseason once again and the CU softball team made its first appearance in the NAIA Championship Opening Round as well. The men’s and women’s tennis teams both reached the national tournament, with the men posting a pair of victories. The wrestling program qualified seven individuals for the national championships, with three student-athletes earning All-American honors. Katie Legge received an at-large berth into the women’s golf national tournament, placing 33rd overall.

Cumberland football has put together the best stretch in program history, registering a 23-8 mark over the last three seasons, and also posted an NAIA-best 16 national Scholar-Athletes last season.

Cumberland University admits those applicants whose ability,

training, motivation, and interests indicate that they will succeed in

college course work.

Applicants must request official transcripts from their high school or college to be sent to the Cumberland University Office of Admissions. A final transcript bearing the seal of the institution and showing final class rank (if available), GPA, test scores, and other pertinent information is also required. Applicants must also submit official ACT or SAT scores.

You can apply online or send in a printed application. Of course, enrollment involves a lot more than that–like financial assistance, career planning, and on-campus housing.
