Visitors are WELCOME TO CULTURE NIGHT CORK 2008 On Friday 19th September the theatres, galleries, observatories, public laboratories, artist studios, prisons, historic houses and museums of Cork are staying open late and putting on a range of special programmes for one night only. There are workshops, plays, film screenings, readings, music, dance and exhibitions. Running until past midnight, the events all offer a new way of experiencing culture in Cork and everything is free. Everyone one is invited, the young, old, families and friends, visitors and residents. Cork’s Cultural organizations and their staffs have all welcomed and supported this project. Cork City Council would like to thank them for all of their efforts in creating this programme for you to enjoy. Culture Night is a national event in 2008 with Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway opening their venues on the same night. Architectural Walking Tour Join a walking tour exploring the varied buildings and places which contribute to our cultural heritage. Cycling Tours William Hammond One of the founders of the Cork Singers Club, William will lead cyclists through the city stopping at important historical sites and singing songs connected to the events and buildings that took place along the route. All you have to bring is your bike. Meet at 7pm at the National Monument on the Grand Parade, no booking required. Poetry on the Buses In Conjunction with the Munster Literature Centre The free buses on the route on the evening will each have a poet on board, reciting their work. Poets include Liz O'Donoghue, Billy Ramsell, Ian Wild and Leanne O'Sullivan. You can either listen to the poets along the whole route, or you can hop on and off at the various venues, catching some verse along the way. See Bus Culture details for route and times. On Friday 19th September the theatres, galleries,observatories, public laboratories, artist studios, prisons,historic houses and museums of Cork are staying open late andputting on a range of special programmes for one night only.

There are workshops, plays, film screenings, readings, music, danceand exhibitions. Running until past midnight, the events all offer anew way of experiencing culture in Cork and everything is free.

Everyone one is invited, the young, old, families and friends,visitors and residents.

Cork’s Cultural organizations and their staffs have all welcomed andsupported this project. Cork City Council would like to thank them forall of their efforts in creating this programme for you to enjoy.

Culture Night is a national event in 2008 with Dublin, Cork,Limerick and Galway opening their venues on the same night. It ismade possible by our funding partners the Department of Arts,Sports and Tourism, our print and media partners, the EveningEcho and 96FM and our transport partner Bus Éireann.

■ Cycling ToursWilliam Hammond One of the founders of the Cork Singers Club, William will leadcyclists through the city stopping at important historical sitesand singing songs connected to the events and buildings thattook place along the route. ■ Poetry on the BusesIn Conjunction with the Munster Literature CentreThe free buses on the route on the evening will each have a poeton board, reciting their work. Poets include Liz O'Donoghue, BillyRamsell, Ian Wild and Leanne O'Sullivan.

You can either listen to the poets along the whole route, or youcan hop on and off at the various venues, catching some versealong the way. See Bus Culture details for route and times.
