A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

One of the more interesting and exciting projects currently under exploration is an aerial gondola system to connect Rosslyn and Georgetown. While I was a bit skeptical when I first heard the idea, I kept an open mind, and the more I learned about the technology and other successful urban gondola systems, the more I became convinced that this was an important idea that was worth further study.

Rosslyn is a vibrant urban center and growing mixed-use community. With three Metro lines, two major bike trails, three bus systems and five major road networks, we also serve as an accessible transportation hub for our region. Our residents and employees want and deserve multiple

transit options, so we believe that we owe it to the community to explore the potential a gondola could have as a cost effective and clean mode of transportation that could alleviate congestion on the Key Bridge while driving additional economic development.

ZGF Architects, the firm conducting the Gondola Feasibility Study, anticipates delivering their findings this fall. We are eager to hear their recommendations and will be sharing the results with the community via our weekly eBlast. Sign up to receive the latest updates at RosslynVA.org/subscribe.

Update: Georgetown-Rosslyn Gondola

The feasibility study for a gondola connecting Georgetown and Rosslyn will be completed this fall. A July public informational meeting at the Rosslyn Spectrum was well attended, and an online Washington Business Journal poll conducted soon after showed strong public support for the project.
