Learning ObjectivesBy the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

• Describe the role of the fieldwork educator and the purpose of fieldwork education;

• Discuss the role of AOTA, ACOTE, the College and the clinical site in the fieldwork process;

• Identify the benefits of being a fieldwork educator;

• Identify the characteristics of a competent fieldwork educator;

• Discuss strategies that will cultivate personal development as an educator;

• Describe the progression of skill development of the fieldwork student;

• Utilize provided resources to promote student growth and competency;

• Identify and discuss creative solutions to fieldwork issues.

Come and join us for an interactive and informative workshop for both the experienced as well as the blossoming fieldwork educator. Participants will be provided with tools and ideas for educating the fieldwork student and enhancing personal growth as an educator.

This workshop is designed for the experienced and developing occupational therapy fieldwork educator. Participants will be provided with tools and ideas for educating the fieldwork student and the enhancement of personal growth as an educator.

Topics will include: progressing the student for optimal growth; managing the difficult student; mentoring the advanced student; facilitating open communication; and developing competence as a fieldwork educator. Case studies, templates and discussions will be utilized during the workshop.
