Screensavers are Money WastersComputer screensavers are pretty to look at, but they can be a real drain on your wallet. Instead of letting your computer go to screensaver mode, consider turning it off – or placing it in power-saving mode. This will allow the computer to “go to sleep” after a few minutes with no activity. You’ll save energy and extend the life of your computer!

Cost: No additional cost!

Savings: Up to 63 kWh* per bill, or about $78 per year.

Community Spotlight: Everett Schools Save BigWhen it came time to replace the aging stage lights in Everett High School ’s historic Little Theater, Everett Public Schools turned to the PUD. The PUD helped the school district secure a modern and efficient LED theater light-ing system, saving $14,000 on up-front costs and another $6,000 in annual energy use – money that can now support other important school programs. Student safety was also improved. The old lights could deliver serious burns if touched while in use. The new LEDs remain cool, allowing students a truly hands-on experience in lighting design. Learn more about business lighting rebates at snopud.com/LTG.

Celebrate Earth Day With the PUD: Free Bus Rides & Electric Vehicles The PUD will join with others celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day next month, and we have a lot planned! This year, we’re excited to partner with Everett Transit to offer community bus passengers a free ride on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22. Public transportation is a great way to help reduce carbon emissions, especially if you use one of Everett Transit’s seven electric buses, which the PUD is proud to power! Look for more details at snopud.com/earthday. And speaking of electric transportation, the PUD is excited to offer customers the chance to learn all about electric vehicles (EVs) at the Snohomish County Earth Day Celebration. If you or somebody you know is interested in an EV, let us show you a few! You’ll leave with great information and a better idea of how an EV might be right for you. We’ll also offer fun educational opportunities for adults and children at the event.

_ When: Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m._ Where: McCollum Park – 600 128th Street SE in Everett

Can’t make it? No worries! Check out snopud.com/ev for more information on EVs and to sign up for our EV e-newsletter.

“The new theater lights give us so much more flexibility. The pro-cess and the cost-savings make this a great template for future school projects. We’ll definitely look to the PUD for help again.”
