THE EFFECT: You ask a spectator to join you on stage to become an instant magician You show your

spectator various cue cards which prompts your spectator what to say and do During the routjne' Your

spectator asks for another spectator to come up on stage who freely names any playing card Eventually

on the last cue card is an envelope which cootains the !rcgllLhglShlLqt playing card. wowl

WHAT YOU RECEIVE: You receive 26 cue cards some of which are double sided and some of which have

an index of jumbo playing cards on the back The weight of the cue card stock js just right Any thicker

and the whole stack would be ioo heavy to hold All 52 playing cards plus a joker are covered These

cards have been specially printed at optimal size for visibility and efficiency to make the trick work well'

Thelastcuecardisofextrathicknessandhasaspecialenvelopegluedtoit.Thisiswhereyouwillloadthe selected playing card into it.

sETUP:Placethecuecardsintheorderyouwantforyourroutine.Therearefoursampleroutinesenclosed which are printed on the inside ofthe back advertising card You can show any side you want to

customise Your routine- You can even Iemove a couple of cue cards, if you want a shorter routine'

however cue cardswith playing cards on the reverse cannot be removed or altered in order'

Use either the 'Good Morning', 'Good Afternoon' or 'Good Evening' cue card depending on the time of

your performance. The other two introduction cue cards are not needed for thet performance however

you can turn one of them over and use it as a cover card for the entire set, blank side outwards Your

chair or bar stool should be to one side (either teft or right) but slightly forward and slightly angled

towards the centre, You want your assisting spectator to see what is written on the cue cards while you

are sitting in your chair. The cue cards can be laying on your chairatthe start ofthe performance'

WHAT TO Dor Ask your audience if anyone has ever wanted to be a magician Choose someone to join

you on stage and position them so they are standing in the centre and facing forwards' Tell your

spectator that they are going to become a magician and that you will teach them a trick- Tell them theY

of course have no idea what to do or say but you will help them with the aid of some cue cards. lustinstruct yourspectetorto read aloud what is printed and follow any instructions. Apparently, you willnotbe doing any magic and are merely assistin8yourspectator.

When you are ready, pick up yourcue cards and sit down but be carefulnotto flash the underside ofthestack. lfyou are right handed, hold the stack vertically with your left hand underneath - supporting theweight. Vice versa ifyou are left handed. The blank cover card isfecing youraudience.

Transferthe flrst blank cue card to the back ofthe stack by lifting it straight up and moving it to the back.

The first opening cue card is exposed. lf your spectator has not already started, tip them to startspeaking - clearly and loud. You can find some reaction lines to say for each cue card by looking on thereverse ofthe front advertising card. Ofcourse learn these off by heart beforehand.

Continue to move cue cards from front to back as your spectator reads the script, At one point, anotherspectator willjoin you both on stage. When you get to the point where a playing card is named, keeptransferring cue cards from front to back until you see the chosen playing card on the back ofthe stack. When you transfer the !el! front cue card to the bacl! secretly steal the chosen playing card with yourright thumb and clip it to the back of the front €ue card. Hold the playing €ard in place as you move thecue card tothe backofthestack. See photos below which showthe eight ofclubs being removed.

Now you need to secretly rotate the playing card to a horizontal position so using both thumbs swivel

the playing card to landscape position. You can use the reactions of what your spectator is saying to kill

time if need be. Also you can mask this by pausing to square up the stack. The playing card should nowbe at the very bottom edge of the cue cards and in the middle.

Continue to transfer cue cards from front to back but as you do so, insert the moving cue card betweenthe horizontal playjng card and the rearmost cue card. You mayfind the best wayto do this is by feedingthe cue card in at a slight angle. lfthis is the €ase, transfer AU cue cards the same way. See photo below.

Everysingle remaihingcue card is also inserted between the playing card and rearcue card. The face ofthe selected playjng card is always in yourviewthe entiretime and is never covered,

Page 3: Cue The Magic by Angelo Carbone

Finally when the Envelope cue card comes into view of the audience, the chosen playing card should bedirectly in line with the envelope even though there are many cue cards in between. The playing €ardends up resting against the "PLEASE GlvE ASTANDIN6 OVAT|ON" cue card. See photo below.

By Srabbing from above, remove ALL of the cue cards with your right hand EXCEpT for the Envelope cue

card. Your left thumb holds bark the playing card and you will find it automatically now rests against thewindow cut out atthe back ofthe envelope. See photo below.

Place all the cue cards under your left arm pit (if you are right handed). Load theenvelope by pushing it up with your left thumb and then down again so it is tuckedsee photo below.

playing card into theinside the envelope.

You can use both thumbs if need be. Yourjob is done. You may find it easier to position the ball ofyourihumb on the playing card BUT directly in line with your little finger on the other side. This helps prevent

the card rotating slighily as you push it upwards.

Move to your on stage spectator, open the enveJope, pulloutthe card back outwards and hand itto yourspectator to reveal to the audience in dramatic fashion. You could also have your spectator remove theplaying card from the enveJope if you tease it out enough for them to grip it properly. Make sure not toflash the back ofthe cue card which has a big cut out on the back.

Page 4: Cue The Magic by Angelo Carbone

As your spectator reveals the face of the playing card to the audience, grab the stack from under Your

armpit and add it to the back ofthe Envelope cue card and turn the whole stack around This reveals the

ovation prompt to your audience so gesture with your outstretched free arm towards you fantastic

spectator, Thank both spe€tators and gesture to them to return to their seats'

TIPS: Always try to transfer cue cards from front to back in the same speed and rhythm once you get to

the index cue cards, you will find your left fingers can push upwards the front cue card slightly because

there is less friction. This raises the front cue card higher and enables the right hand to remove the card

more easily. Repeatthjs action for allthe indexed cue cards'

YoucaneitherloadthecardintotheenvelopeAsyouplacethestackunderyourarmpitorloaditinAFTER you have placed the stack under your armpit. Loading it AS the stack is placed under your armpit

requiresmoreco.ordjnationbutisbetter.Youdonotneedtorushtheloading,justpushitinataslowsteady speed. lf you rush it you may make it difficult for you Try what works best for you You can also

load the card white you are still seated or while you get up and walk towards your spectator' You may

also find it helps to place the fingertips of your free hand on the front of the envelope for additional

support and to prevent the envelop flap popping open ifyour double sided tape is not strong enough

Youdonothavetoshowtheovationcuecardifyoudon'twanttolfyoudo, makesureYouareencouragingthe ovetion for your spectatoras your spectator was the'performing magician'-

Every now and again you may have to square up the stack ofcue cards by patting either side ofthe stack

with your right hand as you rest them upon your knee This could be also a good excuse when You have

to rotate the vertical playing card to a horizontalposition'

To reset, just transfer the Enveiope cue card to the back ofthe stack and replace the playing card in the

correct pocket. The rest ofthe cue cards are still in the same order so the reset is super qui'k-

lfyou want to you can number the cue cards in sequence with a pencil by writing a small number in the

lower corner on the back ofthe cue cards. Do this just in case you drop the cue cards and they get out of

sequence however you can always refer to the advertising card whjch shows the order ofthe cue cerds

Before each performance, make sure the envelope flap is pressed against the double_sided tape to

prevent the flap popping open as you load the card lfthe double_sided tape starts to lose its stickiness'

just place another piece directlyoverthe top of it-

The playing cards are in numerical order and in CHaseD order' clubs, Hearts' Spades and Diamonds'

lfyou wantto print your own custom cue cards to interweave with Your purchased set' use the font EE!

EqELlfg at a size ofgopt and use image editing software such as Photoshop to create your cards'
