Our Vision At Cudgegong Valley Public School we do our best by being

responsible learners, who are safe and respectful.

Kindergarten 50 Days of School We celebrated attending our first 50 days of school with a rocking rolling dress-up day. Students enjoyed participating in a range of '50' activities. We counted to 50, made 50 patterns and created 50's artworks. Kindergarten enjoyed some 50's style jiving along to music from the 50s with lots of twists and shouts in the afternoon. We can't wait to celebrate 100 days of school!!!

Easter Hat Parade Eggs, chicks, nests, spots and feathers were a sight to behold at this year's Easter Hat Parade. Students wore stunningly adorned masterpieces as they waved to families and our school community. Some of these works of art were created with the assistance of our Year 6 and 5/6D students who enjoyed working with their Kindergarten buddies, designing and refining all the elements on their hats with much care and guidance. Smiles and celebratory clapping framed the draw of 26 incredible Easter Egg baskets. A massive thank you to everyone who donated eggs and baskets to this much anticipated element of the parade. A huge thank you to family and friends who attended the event.

Upcoming P&C Meeting Our May P&C Meeting will take place on Thursday, 16th May starting at 7 pm in the staffroom. I encourage all those parents who are interested in finding out more about the school or having a say in decision-making to join us for this meeting. We are still looking for a President and a Secretary, so if you would like to know more about the P&C or these roles, please don't hesitate to contact me via the School Office. Stewart House Each year Stewart House supports over 1,700 public school children in need, with health and educational programs and out of school activites to boost their self-esteeem and to promote a healthier lifestyle. To assist this cause, you can return the Stewart House donation envelope which was sent home last week to school with $2.00. To be eligible for a chance to win a family holiday valued at $4,000 please return this envelope to school by Friday, 24th May. Earn & Learn You can help CVPS earn valuable educational resources for the school by collecting Woolworths Earn and Learn stickers between 1st May and 25th June 2019. Earn and Learn sticker sheets went home with students last week and can be completed and returned to the collection boxes at school or Mudgee Woolworths. Michelle Neaverson-Smith Principal

Garden Club Cudgee families share why they help out with School Kitchen Garden: "Being part of the school community... I love seeing what the kids learn from the different volunteers... seeing kids thrive in the garden 'classroom' who can struggle within normal classroom walls... teaching kids how to grow food and how to use it in cooking... seeing their lightbulb moments.... just seeing how much the kids LOVE being in the garden at lunchtime!" Sharing your time and skills with the school community makes it a much more interesting and beautiful place to be. It also is a really powerful way to show your kids they belong to a community. Find out more or get in touch via the school or our FB page. Please note Kitchen Garden AGM will be held on Monday 27th May at 3.20pm. The garden is located behind the Admin building. The new weekly day for Kitchen Garden sessions will be THURSDAYS 1-2pm, commencing this week!

This Friday

10th

May

Our big event of the year is on this Friday. It has been wonderful watching our fundraising total grow, particularly in the last week. As of Sunday 5

th May, the

children have raised a fabulous $8200! So far there are 100 children registered online with 89 actively fundraising. Imagine if we could get all of our 552 students to raise $10 each! We would hit our target and the talks with sports court builders would begin. There is still plenty of time to register your child online. Go to schoolfundraising.com.au to create your child’s profile page, and then share it with all your family and friends. Children are also able to donate in cash. They give it to their teacher who is recording the totals manually. Those totals will be entered online so the prizes are registered and won. You have 2 weeks left to Fundraise. The cut-off date is Friday 17

th May.

Dress up Fun and Colourful! Your child is encouraged to dress up in a colourful outfit, ready to celebrate our big fundraising day. Remember to check they can still run in their outfit. Particularly if they hope to qualify through to Zone in their Cross Country age group. The children can dress up in Fancy dress, or brightly coloured running gear. They can colour their hair and/or paint their faces. Singlets and midriff tops are not allowed and running shoes must be worn. Fun Run Details The Fun run is being held as part of the School Cross Country. The cross country note will arrive from the school this week. On that note will be the distance and what time that each age group has to run. *The Cross Country Run and the Fun Run are the same race/run.*
