The event was held at theAERO Institute in Palmdale, California,USA. The competition became official inMarch and was announced on the WCAwebsite, SpeedSolving Forum, YouTube, andin the local newspaper.

About 60 people or so showed up during theday, 29 of them being competitors. We heldthe following events at the competition: 2x2,3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 3x3 OneHanded, 3x3Blindfolded, Pyraminx, Square1, Magic, and Master Magic. We had a lot of help running the competition, with over fifteen competitors volunteering toscramble and judge.

verall the competition went very well.We even provided a tour of the NASADryden Fiber Optics Lab in the AEROInstitute for those who were interested, andabout 12 people took the opportunity to goon it. Our table of free cubing information(printed solution tutorials and website links)was popular too, and SpeedCubeShop, whoprovided prizes for the competition, was onsite and was well visited by the enthusiasticcubers. One special feature of the competition is thatwe had a live results system projected onto ascreen at the front of the room. Competitorsand spectators were able to see results thathad been entered and who was moving on tothe next round. In the end, James Hamory won the mainRubik's Cube event with an average of 11.67,and also won 4x4 and Pyraminx. MichaelYoung won the 5x5, Square1, and 3x3Blindfolded events. Marco Mendoza got 1stplace in the 3x3 OneHanded Event, StevenTurner took 1st in 2x2, Samuel Chiu wonMagic, and Andy Smith won Master Magic. All the results are posted on the WCAwebsite. As an organizer of this event I amvery pleased with how this event turned out.We had many good compliments and wehave been thinking about what we can dobetter next time. I am looking forward toorganizing another competition soon.
