to an MXD using ArcGIS online servers. To optimize screen layout, the Table of Contents is narrower

and the Feature Explorer now docks on the right.

• Fixes for Matrix Window: Scrolling large files on a large-resolution display could

previously freeze Cube; this has been resolved. If an open matrix file was updated and reloaded, the row/

column totals displayed could be incorrect (the file itself was correct). In SP1, the matrix display is now correct.

• Changes for Analyst Drive are documented in the Analyst Drive Reference Guide (available on the Cube help menu).

14 Cube Base Release Summary

Version 6.1.0

Version 6.1.0This section lists new features found in Cube Base Version 6.1:

• Support for Windows 8

• Cube 6.1 includes the new Analyst Drive.

Analyst Drive is a program using state-of-the-art data assimilation techniques to optimize trip origin-destination (OD) matrices for a given traffic assignment and input traffic count data. While Analyst Drive builds on the estimation tools provided to the Cube software suite by the Analyst module, it is a completely new program with advanced capabilities not previously available to the Cube platform.

The prompt is provided in the following Cube Windows:

Cube Base Release Summary 15

Version 6.1.0

Text Editor Matrix Window Report Generator

• Improved resizing of window tabs when docking panels (Data Manager, Scenario Manager) are moved, and when switching between windowed and tabbed mode

• Application Manager and Cube Voyager now feature full support for filenames and paths containing foreign characters.

For important information on configuration, see Getting Started > Language settings in the Cube Base Reference Guide.

• Text Editor now opens files in ASCII (standard 7-bit), ANSI and UTF-8. The editor will also now save back to that format. (The editor in 6.0.2 saved all text files to UTF-8, causing incompatiblities on some foreign-language systems.)

• Application Manager You may now use the scroll wheel to navigate up and down

in the AM display. Hold Shift to scroll left and right. You may now double-click an empty file box to bring up the

file selection box for a new file. The file information (properties) dialog now displays file

sizes delimited with commas; ie, 12,347 bytes. You may now right-click an input or output file (or

geodatabase) and select the Open Containing Location command. This will open the file’s path in Explorer and highlight the file.

When moving program boxes and groups, you may now use a Grid to assist with arranging. Simply click Snap All on the Home ribbon tab to automatically snap program boxes. Further, there is a dropdown with these options:

• Show Grid — enables display of grid points. Points are shown when clicking or moving boxes.

• Snap to Grid — enables objects snapping to the grid

16 Cube Base Release Summary

Version 6.1.0

• Grid Size — the spacing of the grid in pixels On the Home ribbon tab, Add to Catalog Data, Auto Name

Files, Create External Files and Delete Output Files have been grouped within the new File Boxes dropdown.

• Scenario Manager The Multiple Run Results dialog can now be resized,

allowing all fields to be viewed. The Run Catalog dialog has been improved. You may now

double-click scenarios to add to them to the Selected list. And, you may now use CTRL or SHIFT to choose and remove multiple scenarios from the Selected list.

After right-clicking an application to remove it, you will now be prompted to confirm the operation.

• Data Manager In Import/Export using True Shape, the Node number

dropdown will now list all numeric fields in the input network (along with “N”).

Build Network from Shape has refinements to the Consolidate AB/BA Field Pair function, and its application of field masks. For more information, see Managing Data > Managing Geodatabases in Cube > Build Network from Shape File in the Cube Base Reference Guide.

When importing Intersection Files (*.ind) to a geodatabase, the imported volumes will now be stored in the junction database.

• Fix for Ribbon commands - Intersection Data Volumes and Add Path File are now available from all available contexts.

• Network Window The Transit Accessibility Analysis tool has been restored. It is

documented in the Cube Base Reference Guide, Network Window > Transit accessibility analysis.

Fix for the Flag Statistics button, which previously did not enable.

Cube Base Release Summary 17

Version 6.1.0

On the Path Building Toobar, there is now a Print Summary Line Only option available after selecting Save Path to File. This outputs cost information for each path without detailed data on each node, speeding up the process and producing smaller path files. For more information see the Cube Base Reference Guide, Network Window > Highway path display.

• Matrix Window can now display files of any size, subject to available system memory and storage.

• GIS Window The Display Settings button, for input/output intersection

data, is now available. Improvements to Desire Lines:

• Desire lines in GIS Window now depict the left-hand driving orientation, when enabled.

If the network drive direction is changed while the desire line tool bar is visible, the desire line tool bar needs to be closed and restarted. All generated desire line layers will need to be closed as well.

• When two-directional desire lines in GIS window are displayed, features will now only be created when there is a volume. (Previously, even with zero volume interzonal connectors would be drawn).

Fix for Feature Explorer’s handing of writeable fields in GIS feature classes. Previously, certain fields set to 0 in Feature Explorer would be read by Voyager programs as “empty.” Thus Voyager would assume the default value. This occurred, for example, when Public Transport’s ONEWAY field was set to 0; PT would use the default of 1. Now, a zero value will always be read as zero.

The Set Intersection Time Segment Command now functions correctly. It selects the time segment of intersection system attributes such as _VOLC_MAX, _VOLC_SUM and other

18 Cube Base Release Summary

Version 6.1.0

output intersection attributes from Cube Avenue. The time segment must be selected before these system attributes are copied to the network.

The Copy System Attributes commands for Nodes and Links are now default buttons on the Home ribbon tab.

• Further, for node feature classes, attributes keyed by time segment (ending in _{TS}) are now available when an Avenue output intersection file is loaded. These attributes may be used to animate charts and graphs of node data.

In edit mode, you can now delete a selected link with the Delete key.

In edit mode, right-clicking a Link in Feature Explorer and selecting Delete Link (One Direction) will now always delete one link, even when Two-Way editing is enabled

When using ArcGIS 10.1, metric scale bars are now available in layout view.

• Fix for issue preventing operability with ArcGIS 9.2 sp6

• Cube Base features a new Database Window, available as a Beta, with the following enhancements: An intuitive, streamlined interface Modify Database Structure has been removed, in lieu of a

new Rename Field command and existing commands to Add and Delete Fields.

Tables in geodatabases may now be edited, along with standalone database files (DBF).

You may now select from Themes (color schemes) for the table.

There are now Undo, Redo, Undo All and Redo All commands.

DBF fields may now be computed using Python expressions.

Cube Base Release Summary 19

Version 6.1.0

There is no longer a 2gb limit on file size — the only limitation is system memory.

To enable the new editor, go to Options > NET/GIS.

NOTE: Citilabs cannot guarantee correct operation of the new editor. Data loss, for example, can happen when fields are renamed.

20 Cube Base Release Summary

Version 6.0.2

Version 6.0.2This section lists new features found in Cube Base Version 6.0.2:

• Enhancements to the path function in the Cube Graphics window: Paths may be saved to file in .TXT or .DBF format. Expressions in the origin and destination field (e.g.

District=1,3-5) Option to limit the paths to a maximum cost. Any path over

the limit will not be included in the display or the output file (exception below).

Optional limits on the number of paths displayed / written to file from an origin, to a maximum number sorted by cost

Option to force the number of paths displayed / written to file from an origin, to a minimum number sorted by cost. This only applies if there is a max cost specified. If the number of paths with costs less than max cost is below the minimum number, the max cost will be increased a number of times to try to reach the minimum number.

All of these path building functions may be run from the command line, so they can be called from Voyager. See the Utilities chapter of the Cube Voyager Reference Guide.

• Cube 6.0.2 features the following interface changes: Window tabs now resize to a greater extent, as more tabs

are added or the Cube window is resized (range: 150 - 250 pixels)
