SAMPLE ITINERARY

HAVANA | VARADERO BEACH

DAY 1: DEPART U.S.A. | HAVANAAfter arriving in Havana and clearing customs and immigration, you will meet your KIconcerts Tour Manager and board the tour bus for a fascinating introduction to Cuba. You will arrive at your hotel for check-in and the first of your delicious daily dinners. Overnight Havana

DAY 2: HAVANAWake up in the vibrant city of Havana. After the first of your daily breakfasts you commence your guided tour to be introduced to the history and spirit of Old Havana. Havana is often referred to as “a city trapped in time” and will capture your imagination with its incredible colors & colonial-era architecture. We will pass by Revolution Square to learn about Cuba’s history and see the Museo de la Revolución, decorated by Tiffany’s of New York with the infamous Salón de los Espejos (Hall of Mirrors), designed to resemble the France’s Palace of Versailles. There will be time for exploring and lunch on your own before an official welcome, a chance to meet your local host ensemble and to rehearse with them for a combined CONCERT finale. Overnight Havana

DAY 3: HAVANAThis morning after breakfast, you will be guided through some of the historical city squares, including Plaza de la Catedral where the Cathedral of Havana lies; Plaza de Armas, Havana’s oldest square constructed in the early 1520s; Plaza San Francisco de Asis, built in the 16th century when Spanish galleons stopped by en route to Spain; and, Plaza Vieja which was laid out in 1559. After lunch we will tour the city of Miramar, a luxurious residential area that also houses many embassies from around the world. We will end the afternoon with a drive along the famous Malecon, an evocative 4-mile-long sea drive and one of Havana’s most soulful Cuban thoroughfares. The day will be concluded with a traditional Cuban dinner. Overnight Havana

DAY 4: VARADERO BEACHDeparting after breakfast, we will travel to the beautiful Varadero Beach on Cuba’s north shore, famous for its sparkling turquoise waters and white sands. We will check into our resort-style hotel with time to enjoy the facilities of the hotel before dinner. Overnight Varadero Beach

DAY 5: MATANZAS | VARADERO BEACHToday we make the short journey to Matanzas known for its poets, Afro-Cuban culture and as the ‘Venice of Cuba’ for the seventeen bridges crossing three rivers. It is also credited as the birthplace of Rumba dancing. After our tour of this fascinating city we move to the venue for our WORKSHOP followed by an EXCHANGE. You will rehearse with the local ensemble for the evening CONCERT. Overnight Varadero Beach

DAY 6: HAVANAToday we board our tour bus and return to Havana. There are plenty of options for informative and picturesque sightseeing en route south. Upon arrival back into Havana we will check into our hotel in time for dinner. Overnight Havana

DAY 7: HAVANAAfter breakfast there is plenty of time to explore Havana with its delightful shops, delicious restaurants, and colorful culture. This afternoon we prepare for our final Cuban tour CONCERT followed by a farewell dinner. Overnight Havana

DAY 8: DEPARTTransfer to the airport and travel back home or extend tour
