Research interestI am a highly motivated AL (assistant lecturer)/research assistant, currently pursuing my PhD specializing in microbial pathogenesis. I am interested in multi-drug and pan-drug resistant Gram-negative nosocomial pathogens, and in particular Acinetobacter baumannii, which is one of the most troublesome pathogens for the healthcare community. My work focuses on deciphering the reasons behind the success of A. baumannii as a pathogen, especially its arsenal of undiscovered virulence factors, and resistance determinants. Right now, my PhD project aims at characterizing the type II secretion system in A. baumannii, and its contribution to its physiology, and most probably to its virulence.
