Best-in-State! STHS Students Win Verizon Innovative App Challenge
Santa Teresa High School’s Technology Student Association
Team, under the direction of sponsor Maggie Romero, created
an app designed to cognitively engage and connect people
suffering from PTSD. Students won $5000 for their school and
a tablet for each team member. The team advanced to
Verizon’s national competition.
GHS DECA Joins Clear the Haze Campaign
Gadsden High School DECA students join the Evolvement
campaign this year as their main community service
project. Evolvement is a national youth movement against the
destructive nature of the tobacco industry. Evolvement’s mission
isn’t to make smoking illegal, or to fight against smokers, it is to
promote a world that rejects tobacco by its own free will. Gadsden
DECA students attended a training and are now well on their way in
supporting this great community cause. Students are currently
involved in the campaign called Clear the Haze that educates the
public about the dangers of smoking a hookah.
CHS Law Enforcement Students Give Back to their Community
Students organized, fundraised, and purchased gifts for the
Second Annual Holiday Gift Drive to benefit teens at CMS and
CHS. Students held bake sales to fund the gift drive.
The 2016 Chaparral High School Health Fair will take place
during ICAT Conferences. Law Enforcement students, under
the direction of sponsor Ron Richman, will give presentation
about domestic violence, teen drinking, drug abuse, first aid
and CPR.
