• A ‘Box-style’ ejector cam to ensure the correct

return of the Ejector Rods at any speed.

• A set of Seaming Cam Levers, that allow a simpli-

fied smg roll setting and a faster can size change

without the need to dismount the smg levers.

An Angelus 60L equipped with the new ‘DESMO

KIT’, the Gear Driven Lifters and the Single Knife

Cover Feeder will have performances pretty close

to that of an Angelus 61H.

Recent Developments• MetalCoat 480 - the new coating generation. Individual drives for lacquer head, coating cylinder and bottom cylinder provide maximum flexibility and hence achieve the optimum and even lac-quer application. Beverage can productionSchuler offers complete cupping press systems from a single source for beverage

can manufacturers. The range is based on the DA 140 cupping press with a press

force of 140 metric tons for the production of two-piece beverage cans, which is

production system tailored to this machine type, which includes a control system,

decoilers, feed units, lubrication units and cupping diesets. These cupping press

systems can be operated at speeds of up to 300 strokes per minute and thus

reach outputs of around 3,000 to 4,500 cans per minute.

Aerosol can productionSchuler offers the XS-series. These are impact extrusion presses with press forces of

ating at 240 strokes per minute – a speed which until now was still regarded as

unachievable.

NewsIn spring 2011, Schuler launched the Schuler ICON V-DRIVE which delivers a new

and revolutionary machine design with production advantages for manufactur-

ers of aerosol cans and aluminium beverage bottles.

The ICON V-DRIVE is a vertical machine for the forming of can bodies (body-

maker) which boasts compact dimensions, extremely low material consumption

and the possibility to process recycled materials. It generates up to 40% more

material savings than extruded cans. The intelligent design and efficient drive

system mean the machine only uses energy where it’s really needed. Recyclable

aluminium alloy has replaced pure aluminium as the raw material.

Schuler ICON V-DRIVE is perfectly suited for the use of drawing and ironing dies

with a maximum height of 290 mm and a maximum can diameter of 74 mm. The

prototype will be installed shortly at the production plant of a German aerosol

can manufacturer.

For some years now Soudronic has championed the claim of steel tinplate to

be one of the most economical, environment-friendly and sustainable forms

of packaging available to manufacturers today. And there is no shortage of

First and foremost is the fact that metal cans today require far less raw ma-

terial than in the past. Soudronic leads the way in the development of the ad-

vanced canmaking machines needed to work with downgauged tinplate, i.e.

sheet metal stock of as little as 0.01 mm in thickness. Lighter cans mean

more containers per ton of tinplate, savings on natural resources and, over-

all, a significant reduction in the world’s carbon emissions footprint.

ted with the following gauge options; body maker I.D recognition

cameras (for in-line variant) and axial load and dome reversal /

growth stations for destructive testing. A scanning reform tooling

option is also available for plants reforming light weight aluminum

cans giving detailed analysis of the internally reformed diameter
