Record Entries and Record Crowd for Canungra RodeoOver 3,000 people flocked to the

Canungra Showground for the Canungra Hotel Rodeo on Saturday 12th July.

Events commenced at 11am due to record entries in all events with the feature event, the Bull Ride, finishing at 8pm.

Canungra Show Society Media Officer, Lee McKenzie McKinnon described the Rodeo as a complete success. The record number of entries and the large

crowd numbers meant the event was one of the biggest rodeos around.

“The atmosphere was electric with action in the arena all day and an after party with local band the Point O Five that went extremely well,” he said.

Riders came from across South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales, making for a great night of quality rodeo entertainment for an extremely well-behaved crowd.

“We were happy to have a fantastic mix of locals and people from the Coast and Brisbane, with families a major part of our crowd this year,” said Canungra Show Society President, David Wilson.

David thanked the volunteers and sponsors of the Canungra Show Society who have worked together to make the Rodeo a success this year, in particular Terry and Marilyn Sharland who under-took a major part of the organisation.

Local cafe owners Bill and Dianne Crooks renewed their wedding vows recently in front of family, friends and the many viewers of Channel 7’s Sunrise program!

Dianne said long time friend Marg ‘made’ her enter a competition run by radio station Breeze FM to take part in a ceremony at Surfers Para-dise with many other couples and Elvis imperson-ator Dean Vegas as the celebrant.

In addition to the ceremony they received two nights accommodation at Grand Chancellor Surfers Paradise.

Bill and Dianne were also selected as the couple morning program Sunrise followed up for a story.

Dianne appeared on Sunrise on 14th July with Dean Vegas and of course Kochie and Sam. Both Bill and Dianne said it was a fantastic experience for both of them.

After eight fabulous years at Canungra News, the time has come for me to move on. So, from behind the counter I’d like to say thank you for your partonage. I have enjoyed the friendly banter, the jokes and witty conversatoins as well as those special moments when choosing a card or a gift. Those moments when a caring word has been shared for a birthday , a wedding, a birth or a death. I have felt honoured to have been a part of those special family occasions. It has been a privilege to have been a part of this wonderful community. I have been fortunate to live in this very special part of Queensland. We are not travelling far, just closer to the ocean. So once again, thank you, goodbye and I hope to see you all on my visits back as I’m sure we will do. - Bianca Minett

In the Raw Connecting with Real FoodFood Connect has been connect-

ing farmers with food lovers in South East Queensland for almost ten years, and now thanks to local busi-ness owner Irene White of “In the Raw”, they are now bringing local, seasonal, ecological food direct to Canungra.

Irene’s business located at 2/28 Christie Street receives fresh deliv-eries each Tuesday at 4pm.

In the Raw has partnered with Food Connect to become a collec-tion point. Every week you can order and pick-up fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, dairy, milk, oils, coffee and more.

Irene says “Food Connect is a great way for me to connect with like minded people. It is wonder-ful to share the experience of fresh quality produce sourced from local farmers. Every week I enjoy seeing what surprises our box holds for us”.

Food Connect is a social enter-prise providing local, seasonal and ecological food direct from farmers to communities in Brisbane.

All Food Connect farmers use natural, holistic and ethical farming methods and are paid a fair price for it. All of the food comes from within

a 400km radius of the Food Connect Homestead in Salisbury. Rather than home delivery, Food Connect has 60 families and businesses across the region that receives their community’s deliveries for them. This saves on time and money and this saving is passed onto consumers.

In The Raw believes that good food is a major key to good health. They strive to provide locals with a large range of locally sourced, high quality, ethically and sustainably produced products at affordable prices.

Irene says the store is evolving and expanding to suit the needs of our locals whether they have aller-gies, intolerances or are following a clean living path. Her aim is to offer a service to make her customers’ health journey easy and achievable.

“In The Raw is passionate about keeping the mind, body and soul healthy, and our doors are open to enable you to nourish these,” said Irene.

In the Raw stocks gluten/dairy/wheat free, Vegan, organic, flours, grains, Snacks, nuts, seeds, dried fruit products and beverages.

Vale - Stephen John Payne

Stephen John Payne, 73, of Picnic Place, Canungra, passed away on 30th June 2014. The funeral service was held on 9th July at Allambe Memorial Park.

Stephen was born in Wanganui, New Zealand on 17th October 1940. He was married to Patri-cia J Payne (nee Mathieson) on 19th March 1960; they were married 53 years. Stephen and Patricia lived in the Canungra community for 28 years.

Stephen worked as a painter and decorator for more than 50 years. He enjoyed buying and selling prestigious cars, watching movies and sports, playing billiards and spending time with his friends and family. Stephen was an avid All Blacks supporter and he also regularly attended the Canungra Uniting Church.

Stephen is survived by his five children, Tracey Wharton and her husband John, Darin Payne and his wife Penny, Kelly Reyes and her husband Freddy, Lisa Haigh and her husband Scott and Amber Shackleton and her husband Brett; his 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grand-children; his brother Leeroy Payne; his niece and nephews; and the rest of his relatives and friends. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Payne and Patricia Payne; as well as his brother, Danny Payne.

Additional Sensors To Reduce Delays’Additional detector loops have

been installed at the traffic signals located on the Goat Track.

State Member, Jon Krause said he requested the Department of Trans-port and Main Roads investigate long wait times at the traffic signals.

“Approximately 730 meters of the Goat Track is controlled by traffic signals that only allow traffic to flow in one direction at a time and I was advised that some motorists had experienced long delays at these traffic signals,” Mr Krause said.

“A subsequent Department of Transport and Main Roads investi-gation revealed the delay may be caused by vehicles stopping short of the detector loop located approx-imately two to six metres before the stop bar and therefore not being detected to call the green signal.”

“To eliminate this possibility, addi-tional detector loops have been installed leading to the stop bar at the signals on the Canungra end of the road.”

budget 2014/2015As in previous years the framing of the Budget has again been particularly

challenging, however it does reflect the current economic environment and expectations of the wider community.

Council’s long-term financial forecast predicted a potential rate rise close to 5% but we have managed to deliver a 3.3% or lower increase in general rates to the majority of ratepayers. This outcome required some tough decisions and there will be residents who disagree with some of the outcomes. I can assure you this is a budget achieving a balance between long-term financial sustainability and service delivery across a range of areas.

There is record expenditure of $21.2 million on roads and bridges, contin-ued support for community initiatives and grants and support funding for Scenic Rim signature events. A recent staff restructure has created $1million in recurrent saving and the Million Trees and Vibrant Towns and Villages programs will support the Community Plan commitment.

I am happy to talk further with any residents who may wish to discuss the Budget in more detail.

“We are also pleased to welcome back as MC, the very talented Heather Foord, the Local Government Association of Queensland Ambassador and well-known television personal-ity,” he said.

The Mayor said he strongly encourages members of the community to reward local businesses for their outstanding efforts through public nominations.

“I encourage the community to get behind the awards by nominating those businesses and proprietors who stand out from the crowd.

“Receiving a public nomination is a great way to reward, encourage and acknowledge the hard work of businesses and their staff, regardless if the business is small or large, new or longstanding.

“I look forward to learning about the successes of previous award winners and new businesses alike,” he said.

The award winners will be announced at a gala presentation night at The Centre Beaudesert on Friday 28th November.

Cr Brent said he was expecting an impressive field of nomi-nees for the 2014 Business Excellence Awards given the stan-dard of entries in previous years.

“Following the success of the last three years, we have great expectations for what the 2014 awards will present; I anticipate it will be bigger and better,” he said.

Working Together ...Last month I was fortunate to be involved with

the organisation of the Canungra Hotel Rodeo, an annual event organised mainly by volunteers.

Early this year, the Show Society’s future was in doubt due to a lack of volunteers to form a committee. However there is now a fantastic band of people who spent hours working togeth-er to bring the Rodeo to the town and backing up with the Canungra Show on 23rd August.

There have been working bees and meetings as well as the actual event day, which means hours of unpaid work by everyone involved. No-one shirked any job, from cleaning toilets to organising entertainment, everyone put in 110%.

But why would they do this for nothing? Because what you get back - the friendships, the satisfaction of seeing people enjoy them-selves on the day, the knowledge gained from the experience you have - is far greater than what you put in to it.

There are many organisation in our town that need volunteers. Even though we lead such busy lives these days, an hour or two a month can make a huge difference to these organisa-tions. Get the kids involved, make it something you do with your partner or use it as a way to meet people and gain new skills.

In the end, you reap what you sow.

Grants for Community OrganisationsCommunity organisations in the

Beaudesert Electorate have the opportunity to share in a total of $1.3 million in small grants to help fund essential items and equipment.

Member for Beaudesert Jon Krause said the funding was avail-able under the third round of the government’s $4 million Caring for our Community program.

“The Caring for our Community program recognises how impor-tant local organisations are to our communities and our state,” Mr Krause said.

“These grants provide a fantastic opportunity for community organ-isations to improve their facilities and upgrade their resources.

“There have been 14 grants to community groups in the Beaudes-ert Electorate from the two previ-ous rounds of the Caring for Our Community grants.

Mr Krause encouraged local community groups to apply for a grant in this third funding round.

“The cost of equipment or infra-structure mounts up quickly for community groups and these grants are a great boost.

“Grants are available to cover a wide range of items from printers, computers, fridges or microwaves to shade sails, lawn mowers, UHF radios and sporting equipment.

Small grants of up to $5,000 are available for the purchase of essen-tial items and equipment. A small number of grants up to $15,000 may be available depending on the needs of particular communities.

“We understand that community groups are at the heart of what makes Queensland great,” Mr Krause said.

“That’s why it is vital for us to continue to revitalise frontline services and support those who help to build more vibrant and inclu-sive communities.”

Applications for grants close on Friday 26th September 2014.

Credit Where Credit Is DueIt’s rare that I put pen to paper about

local issues, but I feel strongly about a few recent incidents that I believe are worth bringing to the attention of us folks who are lucky enough to live on Tambo-rine Mountain and its environs.

First, The Queensland Ambulance Service:

A few weeks ago I had an accident at home that necessitated a Triple Zero call. In no time at all two angels, Sean and Tara, appeared from the Canungra QAS station – a real sight for sore ribs!

I cannot commend these two para-medics highly enough; caring, profes-sional people with just the right sense of humour and expertise to get me down to Pindara Hospital A&E in one, albeit sore, piece.

A few weeks later a second, related ambulance trip down the mountain was

undertaken by paramedics from the QAS station on The Mountain. Their careful recording of my vital signs en-route actually contributed to saving my life – no exaggeration! Thank you guys.

Second, TMMP on Gt Western Main Road:

The alertness, professionalism and care of the doctors and nursing staff there deserve serious acknowledge-ment. While reluctant to mention names – Thanks Dr Ann Bennett and Julie!!

Third, The Pindara HospitalOnly one word for this – Superb in all

respects, from A&E to the CCU staff to the cleaners to the kitchen and to South Coast Radiology. The commitment and professionalism of Dr Ben Hunt and Andrew and James in the Cath Lab deserve special mention.

Finally, Justrite Video Service:While very different to the above acco-

lades, there’s nothing worse than when

your favourite TV program just drops out at the critical moment. Having endured this for a couple of years, and after two previous attempts by local companies to try to resolve it the two underlying sources of the problem were correctly diagnosed and fixed by Bruce Howsan of Justrite Video Service.

This isn’t an uninformed commenda-tion. I’m a telecoms/electronics engineer and without going into boring techni-cal details I can categorically state that Bruce not only knows his stuff, but he’s logical, thorough and has the right (expensive) test equipment to properly diagnose issues.

Highly recommended!!Conclusion:Us residents of Tamborine Mountain

are lucky folks indeed to be surrounded by such people and organisations as mentioned above.Dr Bob Gough

Dangers of Diet Foods Did you know that the

health and diet industry is actually keeping you fat? The marketing terms used in food products encourage you to eat food that makes you gain weight. What??

Terms like ‘100% organic, low fat, 100% natural, light, diet, gluten free, farm fresh, no arti-ficial colours/sweeteners’ make us believe we’re doing our bodies a favour, but many of these foods cause us to pack on the kilos. How? They are teasing us with sexy buzz words, and taking our eyes off the fact that the product’s loaded with sugar! If most of the fat is taken out of a food, e.g. salad dressing or mayo, the product tastes awful, so something has to be added to give it flavour. This is usually sugar, plus salt to counteract the sweetness, and possibly arti-ficial flavours. Compare the ‘light’ version with the regular and you’ll notice a difference in the sugar and salt content, plus a host of dubious ingredients.

Foods high in sugar (plus sneaky sugars like fructose, malt extract, corn syrup, concentrated fruit juice) cause your blood sugar to rise and insulin gets released to compensate for it. The rush of insulin can then cause blood sugar to become low - causing fatigue and hunger, at which point you reach for the chocolate, thinking it will give you an energy boost. Vicious cycle. Fat loss doesn’t come from eating diet foods, but from small, regular and nutritionally dense meals. The resulting balance of blood sugars has the positive side effect of increased and consistent energy levels.

Next time you reach for a ‘healthy’ muesli bar or ‘diet’ yogurt, take a moment to check out the sugar content. It might not be doing you any favours, and instead be holding you in the sugar cycle.

TCT’s DVD ReviewGame of Thrones - Series 1 - 3

Reviewed by Keer Moriarty

Written By: George Martin.Stars: Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams.Rated: MA 15+. Run Time: 126 minutes.

There are a plethora of films and television series made from books, and A Game of Thrones certainly stands out amongst these.

Creator George R R Martin, who has written the first five books of the Song of Fire and Ice series is currently working on book six of the series of seven, while fans of the series wait with baited breath.

The HBO television series first screened in 2011 and Series 1 - 3 have been available from Canungra’s Network Video for some time.

The series, set on Westeros and Essos, follows several families and their quest for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms.

The dramatic storylines of the families will intrigue many viewers, and to be honest once I started

watching I spent hours watching episode after episode (the down-side to watching DVDs of the series!).

The characters are as complex as they are in Martin’s novels, neither really good nor bad, but a morally ambiguious mixture of the two.

A Game of Thrones has attract-ed record numbers of viewers on HBO and obtained an exception-ally broad and active international fan base. It received widespread acclaim by critics, although its frequent use of nudity, violence and sexual violence has attracted criti-cism. The series has won numer-ous well-deserved awards.

Get A Game of Thrones out on DVD now, but make sure you have time to watch more than one - you’ll be hooked!

New Initiative in Aged Care Launched LocallyStar Aged Living are a dedicat-

ed team of professionals who are passionate about providing people of the Scenic Rim community a unique approach to aged care.

The not-for-profit has been busy developing a series of divisions that are designed to offer varying levels of care for each person’s requirements. In addition to Star Gardens, the estab-lished residential home in Beaudesert, the group have recently launched a new initiative called Star Community. This service is focused on extend-ing their expert care to independent seniors living in their own homes.

“We have been providing residents with the highest level of care and comfort in our state-of-the-art facili-ties for over 50 years, but there really is no place like home” said Annmarie Baigent, General Manager of Star Gardens.

Annmarie was recently awarded the prestigious NIMAC Professional Achievement Award in recognition of her contributions to Aged Care. “We’re

all going to spend our golden years differently and we will be there to provide the right level of care for you.”

“Our home-based care will help people in our community remain happy and healthy in their own homes for as long as possible. Star Aged Living gives you and your family peace of mind that our team will always be there when you need us to make things a little easier” she said.

Australia’s aging population is gaining a lot of attention. Star Aged Living is holding a number of Informa-tion Forums to help the community better understand the new legislation, and discuss the direction of Aged Care.

The first forum will be held at the Canungra School of Arts Hall on Friday 15th August at 9am. For more information phone 5541 3744.

The team is always looking for more enthusiastic staff members and volun-teers. For more information, go along and speak to the Star Aged Living staff.

Something For Everyone at Canungra Show! The Canungra Show is a great country

show for all ages and will be held at Canungra Showground, Coburg Road, Canungra on Saturday 23rd August. It is an integral part of the Canungra social scene and provides a chance for locals to catch up with each other, as well as to display their talents in the ring events and pavilions.

As part of Queensland’s equine kindergarten, Canungra Show’s horse events are numerous and competitive. Classes include led and riding ponies, thoroughbreds, arabs, miniature horses and the ever-popular showjumping classes, which provide great viewing for spectators. This year there is also a ‘Topsy Ring’ which will enable less expe-rienced children (eight years and under) to participate in the show.

The cattle classes cater for dairy and beef cattle as well as a Junior Handlers Section which is open to children from eight years. A great way to get your chil-dren involved in showing!

For the gardeners there is a range of classes in which to enter your valued vegetables and flowers. The flower arranging class is always well-contest-ed with keen locals happy to display their prize blooms. The vegetables are also a great source of pride in our rural community and you can view the best of the best in the main pavillion just before sideshow alley.

If you are good with your hands and able to paint, cook or create beauti-ful things out of anything, take a look at the fine arts, cookery, photography or needlework classes. These classes

have traditionally been held in high regard in the community and are a real chance to show off the talents that might otherwise be hidden at home. Some beautiful paintings and sumptous looking cakes are entered each year. Many of the paintings are also for sale from the artists.

The woodchopping, held behind the bar and main pavillion, attracts a large crowd who enjoy sitting on the hill watch-ing the action.

There is something for everyone at the Canungra Show. The range of activ-ities and rides and the close proximity of the attractions make it a great show for young children.

Stewart Morris, formerly of the Ten Tenors will sing the National Anthem

at 1pm as part of the official opening of the Show. Stewart is currently the lead singer of local band, The Point O Five.

Canungra Show Society Media Officer, Lee McKenzie McKinnon said “The upcoming Canungra Show will be a huge event for the township of Canungra. With a family friendly show that features attractions for all ages it is one not to be missed. The Point O Five will be playing after the fireworks in the evening and during the day side show alley will be alive with rides, food and action that we have all come to love.”

Other attractions include Matt Bird’s Chainsaw Carving, a Fire and Ice Show by Sacred Circus, the ever popular pig racing and a great line up of roving performers.

School Visit by Queensland Premier Campbell NewmanOn Tuesday 22nd July, Canungra

State School welcomed the Premier of Queensland Campbell Newmann, the Honourable John Paul Langbroek (Minister for Education, Training and Employment) and Mr Jon Krause (State Member for Beaudesert).

They were extremely impressed with what they saw and learnt about the school community. As they were only at the school for approximately 45 mins

they were not able to see all the wonder-ful students, staff, programs and facilities but they were able to get some insight into the great environmental programs through a tour of the Canungra Creek Wangerriburra Culture Trail, the Worm Farm and Gardening Club.

Jodie Clifford, who has been instru-mental in organising many of the envi-ronmental programs at the school explained the impact of these programs

and the importance of voluntary parent and student involvement in working to restore the creek banks.

They were surprised and impressed by the amount of work that has been carried out at the school by students and volunteers.

At the end of their visit they were also shown some of the intense oral language programs that have been developed, particularly in the Prep classrooms.

Green Team NewsBy Jodie Clifford,

Canungra State School Green Team [email protected]

Canungra State School welcomed the Premier of QLD Campbell Newman, Minister of Education – the Honour-able John Paul Langbroek and Local State member, Mr Jon Krause on Tuesday 22nd July. They were taken on a tour of the Green Team projects throughout the school and were very impressed with the range and depth of our Cool2Be Green Program. It was a rewarding experience to showcase the projects we are so proud of.

The Green Team would like to congratulate the P and C on the completion of paving between the hall and library. Funding and volunteer efforts enabled this project to come to fruition. The paved edging has provid-ed a fantastic finish to our vegetable garden beds and the paving ensures great all weather access to our raised beds.

The Canungra State School Green Team is comprised of staff, students and importantly volunteer parents. Whilst we regularly have a great turnout of helpers at Working Bee days, only a small team currently facilitate our sustainability projects. Our core group of parents have senior students and we are keen to recruit new Green Team members whilst

our kids are still at CSS! The Team is hosting an information morning tea on Tuesday 2nd September to educate, inspire and engage with anyone interested in knowing more about our programs. Further information will be published in the school-newsletter or please contact us for further information.

National Tree Day is an annual event celebrated this year on Sunday 27th July. Whilst it isn’t optimal planting conditions, the Green Team celebrates each year with a shade tree instal-lation on the oval perimeter.

Hope the frost hasn’t caught you in the garden and let’s hope for some unseasonal rain to freshen the plants up!

Nature’s Gemseaster rosella (platycercus exIMIus)

By Melissa WhitbyAustralia is home to an astound-

ing array of parrots. Some species have adapted to the presence of humans and are well known in modi-fied urban landscapes. One such parrot is the Eastern Rosella. This bird is easily recognised by its white face cheeks, scarlet red head and mottled yellow-black back. Male birds are graced with vivid, striking colours whilst females are duller in colour. The Eastern Rosella may be mistaken for the Pale-headed Rosella in South-East Queensland. The easiest way to tell the species apart is to look at the colour of the head. Pale-headed Rosellas have a completely yellow head whilst the Eastern Rosella has a red head with white face cheeks.

Eastern Rosellas are often seen in pairs or small flocks feeding on

the ground. They can be observed in a number of habitats includ-ing farm paddocks, timbered waterways, parks, gardens and grasslands. The birds will breed from August through to February. Favoured nests sites include tree hollows, hollow fence posts and tree stumps. The number of eggs laid is usually four or five.

The range of the Eastern Rosella extends from South-east Queensland through coastal New South Wales and Victoria. Birds are also present in Tasmania. Several races of the Eastern Rosella exist throughout this geographical distri-bution. The Eastern Rosella is usually very easy to observe in the wild. One of the best places to see this bird is in southern Queensland around Stanthorpe and Wallangar-

ra. They can be readily observed feeding on the roadside.

This bird species is usually very common in areas where it is present. As mentioned, their bold nature has allowed them to utilise urban environments and not be alarmed by human presence. The Eastern Rosella is a striking parrot that captures the attention of all that see it. My hope is that these birds continue to flourish and be one of Australia’s most recogni-sable parrot species.

AWL Pets of the MonthAre you looking

for a big lot of fun, big play and even BIGGER CUDDLES!? Mishka is a sweet natured, playful and goofy sook who would love a home where she can express her true nature. She loves a good wrestle with her humans and plays politely with her

canine companions. She knows how to sit, drop and roll over. She’s a real smoocher so she’d really like a home with a good balance of indoor and outdoor time.

Mishka is three years old and is $250. She is vaccinated, desexed and microchipped.

Looking for two cats but not sure if they will get on togther? These two beautiful boys are best friends. Clarence and Charlie are a bit shy at first. They need a quiet, loving home where each can gain confi-dence and share their sweet, loving natures with their new family. Clarence and Charlie are only $99 each. They are vaccinated, desexed wormed and microchipped.

To meet Mishka, Clarence, Charlie or other animals available for adoption, visit the AWL Gold Coast Rehoming Centre.

st luKe’s anglIcan church

By Di Ayscough, Guild PresidentI recently had the opportunity to catch

up with family members whom I do not see all that often. It was a lovely time of bonding and togetherness. Not everyone has family they can catch up with and this can lead to loneliness or emptiness. Do you have a close connection with family and friends? Is there someone you can offer a word of encouragement to, or lend a helping hand, or do a random act of kindness for. Everyone needs to feel wanted and loved. I encourage you to think about your neighbour or someone in need. Remember whatever you give will be given back threefold.

Part of the National Council for Recon-ciliation prayer reads: “you who created all people in your image touch the hearts of the broken, homeless and inflictedand heal their spirits.”

This is a very good reminder for us to apply to all people we know or meet.

If you feel the need for acceptance, companionship or someone to talk to, St Luke’s is a church offering friendship where just belonging will make you feel good. Come along any Sunday to enjoy the service and a warm cuppa after-wards. We would truly welcome you and make you feel at home.

We recently welcomed Jack Peter Lord, his parents Jason and Shannon and their families as Jack was baptised at St Luke’s.

Our annual fund raising dinner will be held in St Luke’s on Friday 29th August. This is a great night of fun, friendship and delicious food. All are welcome to attend but you need to book early. Ring me on 5533 7070 to book a seat.

Canungra Owls Soccer News

By Bren Dalby

Getting to the pointy end of the season now with several teams looking promising to finish in top four finals series. It is hoped they will be well supported if and when they have their final games. Good to see a few more spectators coming along to our night games and enjoying a curry and a bit of a natter; can always do to have a few more though!

Couple of new additions to the up and coming ranks of soccer, with our line marker Chris and his lovely partner having a smashing wee baby boy Eli recently (and thanks to Keiran for filling in for Chris in his absence); also Tom and Jess Mahony awaiting their next bundle of joy as I type! Congratulations to all!

The Squirts shirts sponsored by ‘Tom Mahony Shed Builder‘ have arrived and look terrific...thanks again Tom and Jess for organising those.

Rachel Mathers and friends are proposing a separate junior presentation this year so watch out for info on that. My only concern is that as the AGM was so poorly supported last year that I would have held it at the Junior presentation again to make sure plenty of folk were there, and so we will be sending out a letter shortly with a list of tasks requiring a volunteer for next season...all relatively small tasks but we do need someone to offer to do each and every one of them please. Good chance we will need a whole new committee next year too.

Thanks to all who help out and here’s hoping we can round up a few more....many hands make light work!
