Our purpose with CSW-IT and our SMB brand eStore is to deliver technology products to every organisation in Australia.

Since our humble beginnings in 1991, we strive to provide our customers with $1.50 worth of value for every dollar we are paid and deliver with speed and reliability. Therefore we pioneered an operating model that allows us to be competitive in the long term – and preferred by especially small to medium sized organisations.

By the late 1990’s we were recognised to be the market leader in software licensing. In 2001 and 2003 we acquired two businesses increasing our expertise in hardware. Recognising the specialised needs of larger organisations, in 2006 we separated the “SMB” (now www.estore.com.au) and the “managed accounts” team under separate sales leadership with its own brand CSW-IT.

Early 2012 we relocated to a much larger facility with 30,000 ft2 warehouse, a large showroom and 14,000 ft2 office. This enables us to develop from a capable procurement specialist of hardware and software to an organisation that has increased ability and capacity for innovative services and solutions. In this summer edition of our new corporate catalogue, we present to you an outstanding array of technology and services that we believe have the ability to assist you on the path to innovative IT.

Disaster recovery at its best!A few years ago the brand known as LeftHand hit the Australian marketplace shortly after being acquired by HP. In my opinion, this was HP’s best acquisition under the reign of Mark Hurd. At the time I was working for HP and was fortunate enough to spend a day with the founder of LeftHand, Bill Chambers, an unassuming man, but like all company visionaries, an excellent listener and a very determined man who was dedicated toradically altering the way businesses store data.

One of the early adopters of the new technology was 13CABS. At the time their existing IBM environment was at capacity and becoming very difficult to manage and maintain. On top of that, 13CABS had just decided to implement a new dispatch system and needed to own an environment

that would be able to give them Active Active capabilities and automatic failover with no manual intervention required. Failure of this system was not an option as taxis need to be ordered and dispatched instantly 24 hours a day.

The 13CABS head office in Melbourne has two sites connected with 10GB links between them. At each site we designed a 3 node cluster and deployed the HP LeftHand P4000 technology running network raid 10 and VMware Site Recovery Manager to give them the most redundant infrastructure that they have ever used. The solution was fault tolerant to hardware failures, errors and site interruptions. In short, the LeftHand P4000 provided 13CABS with enterprise class features without the price tag.

Private: Everything IT exists inside your business in a new scalable, easy to manage format where your previous silos of IT (servers, storage, networking, management and power and cooling) now speak to each other seamlessly. You are able to provision IT resources in minutes not days or months. CSW-IT recommends HP virtual systems for Private cloud. This is currently the fastest growing segment of the cloud market and is very suited towards midmarket and enterprise customers who need to maintain control of their IT environment.

Hybrid: A combination of both public and private cloud offerings. Organisations are starting to outsource some of their IT functions to the cloud as they are now getting a better ROI from doing this than keeping the functionality within their own business. The most common functionality now being outsourced in a hybrid cloud environment is SaaS (Software as a Service). Arts Centre Melbourne – PC Asset RefreshCSW-IT was proud to assist the Arts Centre Melbourne with a major hardware refresh earlier in the year. The cultural centre of Melbourne has been a customer of CSW-IT for many years, and during that time, a trusted relationship developed through consistent good service and fast personal response. The requirements of the successful refresh included the image creation of the new machines, secure warehousing and the orchestrated deployment of over 450 new machines with a focus on minimal disruption to the business. CSW-IT also took care of all the ex-lease equipment returns and environmental disposal of waste and packaging.

CSW-IT’s representative, Phillip Miranda, commented that the Melbourne city landmark building resembled a labyrinth on the inside. The logistics of on-site deployment to the many different small offices throughout the unusual site proved challenging and was unlike any project roll out CSW -IT has managed before.

“The deployment team had lots of exercise going and up and down different levels where our trolleys wouldn’t go. At one stage, we thought we were going to end up back stage during a performance by the visiting Chinese Ballet!”
