Synopsis
CCN Coordinator’s MessageOn behalf of the Cambodian Student Association, I would like to welcome you to our 5th annual Cambodian Culture Night. CSA has been working toward CCN since the warm summer days of August to the light breezes of March. During these past few months, it has been an honor to have worked side by side with a group of dedicated individuals who share the same goals that I have to make this night
A grain of rice may be worth nothing to one person, but to another it may be worth everything. “We All Have Stories” intertwines the journey of a humble grandmother and the importance of rice before, during, and after war-torn Cambodia. Watch as she triumphs through adversity in rebuilding what quality of life she has left while she makes her transi-tion into the land of freedom. Every chapter of the grandmother’s life unfolds through the narration of a mother to her ungrateful daughter who needs a lesson in culture, family history, and life.
possible. With that said I would like to thank the backstage crew, actors, and dancers for presenting “We All Have Stories” through the depic-tion of both the beauty of our culture along with our haunting past. As a collective, CSA would like to thank AICA, ASI, Spirit of Khmer Angkor, Khmer Arts Academy, CSA’s alumni, sponsors, donors, families, and friends for making this night possible. And finally, we would like to thank you for your attendance tonight and hope you enjoy our show.

HostsTired of being a product of hisenvironment, Darren Kong (left) began his journey onto the path of righteousness at the tender age of seven. Curiosity andpassion soon enveloped his young mind as he immersed himself in his magnificent Khmer culture. As a recent graduate of Ethnic Studies with a concentration in Asian American Studies, he hopes to inspire Khmer and at-risk youth to become the change they wish to see in the world.
Sabby Leng (right) is the only daughter of Khmer refugees. This first generation college-bound woman found her passion in helping others and her communities at large. Her curiosity placed her in an Asian American course that would change her life into the female activist she is today. As a chapter leader of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum of Orange County, she aspires to be the Khmer Oprah of her community.
